Verizon Wireless collection didnt send payment to verizon New York

About two years ago, i left verizon to get a phone on tmobile. when i left i had one last bill to pay, and my mom had me pay it by credit card. then she accidentally payed it by check.

So i called and had them stop the payment of the credit card but maintain the payment of the credit card, but whoever was workin put in the computer that all the payments were stopped. So im thinkin my bill is on the up and up, but i get a collections notice a few months later, and when i contacted verizon they said i hadnt paid the amount due, i then proceeded to check the my bank and i noticed that the check had cleared. Then we get into some big argument with collections, where we fax in papers showing the check cleared and everything for the next few months, and this went on for about 8 months, then they said it was all cleared up.

here i am a year and some months later i go to get a job at crescent jewelers and they backgrounds checks, and verizon put on my credit check key derogatory for 14 months, with a bad credit checked off, and i didnt end up with the job.
