Got a letter from my service provider, Con Ed, that stated I enrolled in another provider - Viridian. I've never contacted Viridian, nor have they ever contacted me. I've never even heard of them.
I googled Viridian and another Esco company that I used to have. They all basically operate on the Multi Level Marketing scheme to sell their products. I've had these 20 year old salespeople come to my door basically claiming to be from Con Ed and demanding to see my energy bill. They are very pushy and border on criminal impersonation. I had to call the cops one time bc this guy was so pushy and I watched him leave from my house to go to my elderly neighbors' homes. I knew they would be intimidated by this guy and his thug like sales pitch.
However, this time, they've gone even further than that. This should be a crime-to claim that a customer has given their consent to switch providers when he hasn't.

"This should be a crime-to claim that a customer has given their consent to switch providers when he hasn't."
It's called slamming and is very much against the law. Report it to your original provider, the FTC and your states attorney general. Good luck to you.
