I recently encountered an issue with H&R Block, where they mistakenly put the wrong address on my tax refund. This error caused a major delay in receiving my refund. As a result, I had to go to the IRS to verify my identity, which only added to my frustration. Due to this, Mary Thomlinson, the manager at H&R Block, assured me that once my refund came in, they would refund the cost of preparation and the transfer fee because of their mistake. I even have this in writing from her, but they are now refusing to pay me.

On April 10, 2025, I was promised a full refund of $101 by H&R Block, confirmed in writing by their team leader, Mary Thomlinson. However, I never received the funds. They sent the money to a PayPal account I cannot access, refused to resend it, and never refunded the remaining amount. I reached out to several people at H&R Block, including the CEO, but received no assistance. Despite written proof that they approved the refund, they continue to deny responsibility. This is unethical and deceptive.

What H&R Block did to me was unfair, disrespectful, and financially harmful. I’m a hardworking, low-income woman who trusted their brand and followed every step in good faith. I did nothing wrong—they admitted fault, promised a refund, and then refused to honor it. Their refusal to correct this demonstrates a complete lack of integrity and care for their customers.

It feels as though they think they can treat people like me—people without legal teams or the means to fight back—any way they want. But I won’t stay silent about this. No one deserves to be ignored, lied to, and dismissed after being promised their money back.

I’ve spent hours trying to resolve this, only to encounter more frustration. H&R Block does not stand by its word and treats customers as if we don’t matter.

I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). I hope others who have been treated the same way will come forward.

 The BBB calls themselves a "bureau" to DECEIVE the public. The PHONEY BALONEY BBB is NOT part of ANY government body or law enforcement entity. The BBB has ZERO POWER to force any business to do anything or enforce ANY laws. The only purpose of the BBB is to SELL their useless ratings and their useless fake accreditations to any business willing to BUY them. That other entity you mentioned is a legitimate agency. The BBB is nothing more than a PAY-FOR-PLAY SCAM.
