I want to start by saying I have never experienced such a rude and unprofessional airline in my many of years flying. I had flown over to Romania to get some rabbits, there was a lot of research I had to do to see which airlines I was able to fly back home with since very few allow bet rabbits in cabin. When I got it narrowed down, once I made it back to the US, I would fly with Spirit from Orlando to Kansas City on 10/15/2022, as they allowed rabbits. I called customer service to confirm this as sometimes the web sites are not up to date. A representative assured me that they were allowed so I went over my situation, I would be flying on my own with 2 pet carriers as they were way to big to fit into one, so I wanted to see if I could purchase 2 seats. The representative put me on hold to speak with someone, maybe a manager… and when she returned, she informed me that I could do that. I booked 2 seats with 2 pet carriers and a carry on. A flight that should have only been around $124.00 was now $542.18, no problem I just wanted to make sure I could make it back home with my buns.

The beginning I’ll try to make that short, I was at the airport 2 hours before my flight, that was even after going through security. After sitting for a while, I got a notification that my gate had changed. It was on the other side of the airport, so I started on my way. Had to go through that security for terminal C, get there and I just see Delta. I spoke with an agent and she said there is never a Spirit flight on that side. By now I’m starting to panic because I must get back to the other side which includes having to take my rabbits out each time for them to scan the bag though I have already been through there! When I get to security, I look at the time and I see I’ve missed my flight! At this point I’m in tears because I need to get home. There was a nice security guard that explained to me what I need to do and where to go so I could get everything fixed. When I got to the Spirit Ticket counter, I was trying to explain the situation to a gentleman and he didn’t understand much English, so he got his Lead up to the counter. Let me say she was wonderful as I was having a meltdown, she fixed everything for me and got me a flight home that evening. Before leaving the counter, I confirmed it was still the same as before, 2 seats and 2 pet carriers with one luggage, she assured me it was.

                Let’s fast forward to being at the correct spot for my flight 3 hours before leaving, again notification the gate was moved to I believe 94, which means Terminal C AGAIN! This time I got to a Spirit counter to confirm this, explain what happen to me this morning and I was assured that is where I will be getting my flight, the plane is already there and not moving till take off, this happens about 3 times a day. So again, I get to go through security for the 4th time with pets. This wasn’t just me traveling with a bag of clothes, I had a very rare breed of rabbits that I had to go to Romania to get! Flying is very stressful on them as it is, let alone in and out of the carrier for security to scan!

                I am at the correct gate now, let me share how horrible this was. The dirty blond hair girl, sorry I didn’t get her name and I sure wish I did. Anyways she was going back and for to the plane, we were 20 minutes late boarding, then once on I get settled, bunnies are good we are ready to go. UNTILL a couple stop at me seat and ask if someone is sitting next to me and I said no I paid for 2 seats. So, I’m if second seat number wasn’t put on my ticket. Here comes the rudest flight attendant I have ever dealt with, she’s going on about federal regulations and I’m not allowed to have 2 carriers, that when I jumped in and said I paid for them! She proceeds to tell me how it’s still not allowed, if it’s not allowed then why did the ticket agent sell them to me! Sounds like the Spirit employees need to get on the same page.  

As this is going on, the plane’s light turns off twice and the plane turns off as well. As if it couldn’t get any worse, it does. Here comes the blond bopping down the isle and said I didn’t even pay for 2 pets, OH YES, I DID. After the arguing a sweet girl behind me said I can help you and have one of your rabbits with me. Sure, lets to do that and Thank you so much! So now blondie said she had to get the other girl’s ticket and add the pet to her and me pay another $125.00. At this point I don’t even care I just want to go home and be done with this airline! While she was back inside running my card, I found my itinerary of what I paid for on the flight. When she came back, I showed it to her and even confirmed the pet travel was $125.00 each, she said yes, I ask why does my receipt say $250.00? As I’m still trying to show it to her, she doesn’t even bother to look, said don’t know what that is, while her eyes were barley even open, said here is my receipt and I need to stop holding up the plane! EXCUSE ME, WE ARE SITTING HERE BECAUSE SOMETHING IS WRONG IN THE TAIL OF THE PLANE AND WAITING ON MAINTNANCE!

When I finally get to my destination I went right up to the Spirit agent and told him what had happened, he said there was no note of it and added everything that had happened, then gave me the number to customer service to get my refund cause none of what the blond did made sense, again , drug test!


                This is the first time I ever flew with Spirit, I was hoping for a pleasant experience but instead it turned out to be a complete nightmare! I will never fly with this airline again and so glad that I have another option to fly with Frontier with my rabbits.  I will defiantly be sharing my story with everyone. If that’s the type of people you hire for your airlines, I’m surprised your still in business!
