I have received a text message from United Airlines saying that one of my connection flights (nationally) have been canceled, that flight connected me to my international flight. They apologized in the message and said that I could rebook the flight by clicking a link (which took me to nowhere). The situation caused me to be incredibly stressed and started shaking.

Thankfully I am a frequent flyer (flight every 2 months) and I have experience with dealing with flight issues and what options I have. So the first thing I did was to check my reservation, which showed me that yes, the flight ORLANDO-HOUSTON had been canceled, HOWEVER, they still had me going to Houston through an extra stop in Washington. This alteration was not communicated anywhere (not a message, nor an email), and had I not been experienced with flights, I would have had a true mental breakdown.

I did not appreciate the poor communication from United Airlines, and the stress that they caused me unnecessarily. I am still shaking, and still feeling the consequences, even though I know now, that my flight to my final destination is still going to happen.

That is not who you are talking to

More than likely you are talking to a Nigerian Male using a stolen photo - money is gone and there is no such person. Lesson learned.

Seriously???

In your post you said the cancellation stressed you so much that you started to shake. The very next sentence you said that as an experienced flier you knew what to do.

You titled your post about miscommunication yet claim that their communication is the problem.

Seems you just want to complain.

A bit dramatic

If a bad link to a message puts you in such a state that you are still "feeling the consequences" then you should immediately cancel your trip.

Because I would hate to see what happens if something as simple as a flight delay occurs on your trip and they don't tell you exactly when you will be leaving. Based on what you posted here that would likely put you in the hospital. Not to mention how you would react to something such as being bared from returning to the US or subject to a long quarantine due to the current situation.

Oh and by the way while about 6 flights a year may put you ahead of what the average person does per year, you would hardly hit any elite status for frequent flyer programs with airlines. I do though think it is quite interesting how you considered yourself a frequent flyer infering that people who don't have your "experience" couldn't handle this. I am really curious what you think the average person would do in this situation? I guess you think they would just go into a corner and curl up.

Was the bad link inconvienient..sure. But you don't even know why it was bad. Perhaps it was something out of their control. But even so this is by no means a RipOff.

1st -learn how to interpret a text. Read the title.

1st -learn how to interpret a text. Read the title. My issue was never with the flight being cancelled. My issue was with the fact that they told me that the flight was canceled when in fact the trip was altered and I was still able to travel. Poor communication, unnecessary stress.

2nd - you as a care worker of human beings, should at a minimum have learned how to be less judgmental. Do you know why I have to catch a flight in the middle of this pandemic? Clearly not. 3rd - maybe you should go find more things to occupy your life and your mind. Clearly you have too much time in your hands if you have time to come to a complaint website and comment on someone else's complaint that wasnt even towards you.

For a cancelled flight? Are you kidding? Do you not know there is a PANDEMIC going on that is killing people and you are talking about a cancelled flight? How pathetic can you be?? Houston is experiencing a COVID crisis and you want to be in that city? I live in Dallas and still work - and YES I am concerned about the health of my patients and residents in the nursing home I work at as well as my parents and other family members.

Yeah how about the "ripoff"??? NOPE
