Valvoline Instant Oil Change RUINED NEW SERPENTINE BELT Murfreesboro Tennessee

First, I have had positive experiences with Valvoline Instant Oil Change in the past, except for my last visit. On June 2, 2022 there was a new Serpentine Belt, Idler Pulley and Belt Tensioner installed at a cost of $447.63 which is part of a $1,564.98 bill for front end work done on my SUV at another shop.

On June 6, 2022 I stopped by Valvoline Instant Oil Change for an oil/filter change before my wife and I drove out of town. I was standing outside the bay door and witnessed ALL that was being done.

After the young man who drained the oil and removed the oil filter had completed reinstalling the oil drain plug and installing the new oil filter, he sprayed a liquid solution all underneath the vehicle, including toward the front of the engine where the serpentine belt and idler pulley are located.

Now the new Serpentine Belt is seriously slipping which will cause premature wear, requiring replacement of the belt. There is a slick residue film on the idler pulley. An unsuspecting customer would think the belt, or a belt tensioner or idler pulley OR all three items would need replacinng.

I called Valvoline Corporate Customer Care. We had a three-way conversation with the Valvoline Instant Oil Change store manager. The manager said they use a "Dawn Liquid Soap" and water solution to clean underneath after an oil change. I told the manager that the Tech was spraying the solution on the Belt and Idler Pulley which are toward the front of the engine and no where near the oil drain or filter and that now a new belt is seriously slipping.

The store manger offered no help OR solution to remedy their careless action. This is obviously done not as a courtesy to the customer but for more work and revenue to the store and/or to Valvoline.
