1st Lake Properties is run by some of the worst property managers I have ever ecountered in property management. The is run by one Greedy person.
We have lived at Pelican Bay apartments for over 8 years now. After Katrina I developed a medical condition that caused me to have to go on section 8 for rental assistance. The Dr. considered me to be disabled. The company at the time was eager to accept the rent. Well 1st Lake has been raising the rents at every lease renewal. This last go round to renew the lease HUD said the rent was to high. This has now caused a rental nightmare.
For a $25.00 dollar rent increase 1st Lake would put us out than leave the rent were it was. Ok, we found another 1st Lake property with a lower rent to move to. We put a deposit down get every thing in place and all 1st lake has to do is sign the lease at the hud office and they get paid, and we can move to the new property. Now at the last minute the GM over the new property won't allow the manager to sign the lease. They want us to put out all of the 1st month rent in order to move in, then they will gladly take the section 8 check as well thus being double paid for one month.
So come the 31st of this month May we will be homeless. I did not ask for this condition and I am doing every thing possible to get off of the program. All we needed was this last year. But thanks to Ignorance and Greed we have no time.
I urge any one considering 1st Lake property as a place to move into not to do so. These people will screw you out of every dime possible. We were great tenants never complained even when things did not get fixed for months we still kept paying 1st lake. Loyal residence.
It is a shame but they have a monopoly on the rental market here, so they can dictate what they want.
Avoid 1st Lake properties like a bad rash. I urge all who are presently living at a 1st Lake property or have moved from one to post your complaints here and on any other sight possible.

I haven't even lived there. I just sent them a deposit and after they came back two days later wanting more money before I even moved in I told them, "no thank you," and now I cant get my money back. I got entangled in.a childish screaming match with some embecile manager calling herself Cindy(if thats even her real name)at the Flowergate apartments that 1st Lake manages. I think these board members that first lake has needs to publicly reveal themselves, snd stop hiding behind the loophole they found in the "corporation" clause, that was never intended for this kind of monopoly in the first place. The people behind this, what I believe to be...in my OPINION, trashy company need to show their faces. It flies in the face of all logic as to why the employee of 1st Lake will show out and scream on the phone to protect these mysterious owmers and board members. Whoever they are...they must be either a dirty bunch of lawyers, dirty politicians or ex politicians, or some crook from some other domaine. Lauren(thats the only name I know because she wouldnt give me her last name), from the Napoleon Ave office woudnt disclise any information whatsoever about who the president, vice president, etc was. Not one full name. Soneone needs to ecpise these parasitic pukes. Put a face with the trash they're selling.
