I would like to bring to your attention the unsavory business practices of 86th St. Photo and Video. On January 13th I ordered a Cannon SX10 IX camera for $199.99. I got an email on the 25th saying the order was processing. I got an email from them on 1/28/09 saying to contact Chris to verify the order.

I called them on the 29th and the person tried to sell me a battery charger and batteries, and a memory card. When I said I didn't want the accessories, the person become indignant and said it would be two weeks for the camera to be shipped.

I received an email from 86th Street on Jan 31st saying that the camera was backed order for three to four weeks because of the time lapse of the order reaching the shipping department. The camera was shown as in stock on the internet.

I called 86th Street customer service about the backorder and the person said he would cancel the order for me, I told him I did not want the order cancelled and again, became arrogant and hung up.

I received another email on Feb 02 saying the order had been cancelled. I called customer service again, and the person said I could go back on line and reorder the camera, which was now $269,99. When I pointed this out to him, he just hung up.

I called back and the person I spoke with said he would put the order back in and send me an email, which he never did.

I checked back with them yesterday and they said the order was backordered until mid-March. I then saw the camera listed on 86th Street in the Everyprice.com website as in stock. I called them back and pointed this out to them and once again the person said the camera was back-ordered and my order was cancelled. I told I was not happy with the way they were representing themselves and was going to report them to the Attorney General.

I received another email from them saying the order was cancelled.

It is my opinion that they had no intention of selling the camera to me at $199.99 after I turned down purchasing the accessories.

They advertise as having a 5 star rating from Everyprice.
