This is a scam. If it was a true collection agency you would have received the information in the mail not through an email. Ignore them, or do what I do. Contact their email provider and have the account removed. It won't stop them but will slow them down for a bit.

I received a phone call similar to the situation, I told them where to go and how to get there. Then called the phone company to have their number disconnected.

Easy Clues

Folks, no legitimate legal group would ever use gmail for their correspondence. Sure sign of a scammer. If you do a search on the web for the phone number you will see it has previously been used in another scam involving a United Legal Investigation Bureau company.

Blow 'em off.............. they're just scum

I don't have a pay day loan...

AUTHOR: Vickie - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Thanks for your response and I understand from talking to this guy and from reading the email that he is trying to collect on a pay day loan.  Problem is that I don't have a pay day loan with him or anyone else.  This email I received is not true and I don't appreciate this person emailing me at my work and threatening me with a law suit for something I do not owe.
Thanks,
Vickie

Vickie, it's sounds like they are collecting for a pay day loan company.  If that is the case you can protect yourself.

1) Make sure that the payday loan company is registered in your state to do business if you did a loan online. If they are not they have no recourse, even if you did borrow the money.
2) If they are registered in your state check and see what the law is in your state for payday loans.  Most States only allow the payday loan company to charge a 15% interest.
don't pay back anymore no matter what you agreed to.  By law that is all they can collect.
3) Payday loan companies sell off there debt, so any company may call you.
A word of advise about collection agencies. By federal law they cannot threaten to bring youi to court in any way. What most of the scumbags do is they have an office and pretend to be a lawer and threaten you.
Again check the laws in your state.

1) as them if they are a collection agency If No just ignore them If yes 1) Ask if they are licensedin your state to collect a debt if yes ask for there license #.  (you can check the web to see if they are licensed in your state)
2) Ask for a letter proofing they own the debt.
Check the web there is a lot of info out there.  Good luck
