I had contacted this company for a $300.00 loan back in November 2010. I agreed to pay back $390.00 on November 19th 2010. Since 11/19/2010 they have taken money out of my account every two weeks that range from $80.00 - $150.00. I have contacted the company numerous times and they will not explain to me how this works. I did not agree to pay back $730.00 so far for a $300.00 loan.

I have contacted my bank to find out how to stop them from entering my account and the only option I have is to close the account. I have too many direct deposits in my account to do this. The company will not stop taking money out. They have received more than enough from me and I am taking action. They DO NOT advertise this on the site or in any of the forms. Another payment will come out on 3/11/2011 which will total: $880.00 so far. I want a refund of $490.00 which is the difference I have agreed to. If you need a quick loan between paydays.....Stay away from this company. It is nothing but a ripoff!!!

Advance Me Today Complaint

AUTHOR: KellyM - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, June 04, 2012

I just received three harassing phone calls at work from this company, despite my request for them not to do so.  I suggest that anyone having issues with these illegal companies file a complain with the Federal Trade Commission.  There is an online complaint form.  If enough people complain, they will investigate.  We may not get our money back but at least we can stop them from doing this to other people.

This company is taking advantage of needy people

AUTHOR: ewest305 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, March 04, 2012

Yes, their terms are spelled out in the agreement that says something like, we will continue to renew the loan up to 4 times and at the cost of the interest on the loan. They do not operate fairly: they never warn you that their system is not a typical payday loan where you expect the loan to be repaid on your next payday date. It is only after a few months that you realize your loan has never been paid down at all. They get away with re-approving and issuing a new loan because you did not call them to make arrangements to pay off the original loan. Essentially, their terms are that they pile on loan after loan after loan until you tell them to STOP and pay off the original balance plus their interest fee. It may be a bit extreme, but I suggest closing your bank account and perhaps paying them back just the original amount lent (if that hasn't been done already through their loan renewal scam). This company IS A RIPOFF. It is a shame because I think they could provide better services if they simply charged the interest rate and took the amount out on your next payday.

Payday Loans illegal in most states

AUTHOR: k94me - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Well, good for you that you teach students about money. You really should learn more about the laws of certain states before you nake such judgments about people.

In most states payday loans are illegal. Also, even if they are not there are strict rules regarding interest that can be charged, etc. Also it does matter if this business is in Costa Rica and does business thru the internet. You have to have a license to do business in a state where it is being conducted. This does not matter even if it is a company that is internet based. You can not enter into an illegal contract with a business. If pay day loans are illegal, or the terms are in your state, this is not a legal contract.

We know how it works

As I said On Nov 19th THEY were to take out $390.00.  They did not take the full amount agreed upon. They take what they want to. You cannot close your account and open a new one because there is too many direct deposits that go into the account. I understand what you are saying-but this is just plain screwing people out of the hard earned money-for people that refuse to get REAL JOBS!!! Something should be done against them.

It's Pretty Easy How It Works

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 02, 2011

I mean you described the procedure perfectly - you just made certain it didn't work.  You borrow the $300 and in two weeks, you owe $390.  If you don't pay them $390 in the 2 week period, you're screwed.  That's what their schedules on their website say.  It is truth in advertising.  The amount keeps multiplying upward until you pay them thousands.  The fact you paid them $880 to this point exemplifies the point I'm making.  They keep taking money out of the account because you haven't finished paying off the loan; there is nothing to advertise or find in the paperwork.  You didn't abide by the terms and conditions set forth in the agreement and now you want out.

I went to their website about a month ago when I saw another complaint about them on ROR and printed out their loan schedule for some students I teach part-time about money to see that these sites very clearly list out their interest rate at 782.14%.  My students thought I was kidding until I handed them the schedule so they could see it for themselves and invited them to go to the website to see for themselves.  Then they started either laughing or simply sitting mouth agape.  It's the highest I've seen in quite a while.  Just to show you how ridiculous you were to take out this loan, you essentially agreed to pay them $90 every two weeks for interest on a $300 loan.  Over one year, the interest on a $300 loan comes to $2,340!!  If you're only having $80 to $150 taken out of your account, it means you're basically paying in the interest only and your not having any principal paid against it.  Where they're located, or whether they're BBB approved is irrelevant.  You're stuck between a rock and a hard place, and they will ding your credit pretty badly if you stop paying them at this point.

What you need to do is find the balance and pay them whatever the outstanding balance is; at this point, I suspect the loan balance is somewhere around $500-$700, but it could be higher depending on the exact date you borrowed the money.  Borrow the money you need to retire this loan from a friend and offer the friend 10% interest.  That's a lot cheaper than what you're buried in now, and the pain will subside.

AUTHOR: FSU fan - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, April 04, 2011

Hi. I was writing in return to your response, One of their offices is located in New York. I filed a claim with the BBB of New York. (at the beginning of March) They have not taken any more money out of my account since I did this. I need to contact BBB to check the status, but I also have been talking with an attorney about this and I will file a claim in court against them to receive every penny back of my money minus the loan amount for $390.00. But their address in NY is:

Advancemetoday.com
Business Address:P.O. Box 1124-1007
New York , NY 10102

Good Luck to you and for everyone else....Let this be a warning to STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIPOFF COMPANY!!!!
