AFFORDABLE DENTURES   Affordable Dentures - Audubon, Michelle Aitken, DDS, P.A.  Michelle Lynn Aitken, DDS, General Dentist Dr. Aitken, the owner of Affordable Denture is an "in network" dentist. The dentist refuses to refund the difference between what they charged and the "in network" rate.The amount  charged to my care credit card is $2090.00.  Metlife explanation of dental benefits stated "Patient's financial responsibility payable to the dentist is $1,233.00. On June 20, 2014 I went to Affordable dentures in 

Blackhorse Pike W Collingswood Heights,  NJ. They took the impression and made the first set of flexible partial dentures, they were off center with my upper  teeth and it caused my gums to bleed, so they made them over. Now mind you I live about 30 minutes away. The second set were so bad I could not keep them in my mouth and  they were so small they looked nothing like my teeth. I returned for the third time, the upper partial was wobbling inside my mouth and the teeth are way too far from each other. After going back and fort and making them remake my  partial dentures it still won't fit! They suggested to make the ultra instead flexible material. And on October 24, 2014 I received the final partial sets, the upper and lower front cosmetic wise looks good but it constantly gags me and they too tight that my gum started bleeding, they made an adjustments so many times that made the other side lose. The the buttom partial is lose. The upper partial wobble a little in one side and tight on the other side. My upper and lower gums are so sore that I have to remove them when I got home. Havent wear them for a week because I am in so much pain. This is so frustrating. All I asked from the dentist is to copy exactly the fitting of the free temporary partials that was given to me by her.

Dr. Aitken, the owner of Affordable Denture is an "in network" dentist. The dentist refuses to refund the difference between what they charged and the "in network" rate.The amount  charged to my care credit card is $2090.00.  Metlife explanation of dental benefits stated "Patient's financial responsibility payable to the dentist is $1,233.00.

Dr. Aitken stated that if I want to be refunded with the differences,  she is going to bill me with all those times i came back for trials/wax trials and among other things which is supposed to be free of charge..She also indicated that I have to return the free temporary set of partials that was offered and given to me while im waiting for my partials to get done. I was told by  Dr Soifer, the dentist who assisted me during my impression and try ons who also insisted for me to have the temporary partial because its free of charge and its mine to keep. The assistance was there too when  Dr. Soifer said its mine to keep for free of charge. 

 

Dr. Michelle Aitkin also indicated that all those charges she's going to come up with she doesn't know if theres going to be left for my refund. I mentioned to her that dentist should not charged their patients in full unless the patients received their partials. Dr. Aitken said that they have rights to charged the patients in full even the patients have not received the full service and their partials/dentures.  I also told Dr. Aitken I didn't want to get stuck with a partials denture I couldn't wear.

 

 I received my ultra upper and lower partials on Friday, 24 October 2014. Ive paid what they billed me in full on June 20, 2014 right after I talked to the dentist. Ive been told by the front desk staff after i paid my bill that there were nomore additional charges as everything is already included to the partials.

I do not mind returning the free temporary partials that was given to me if Dr. Aitken will refund me the difference. 

Affordable Denture billed me already for the temporary partials that was insisted for me to have and keep for good because it was supposed to be free of charged. Dr. Aitken created a bill as she mentioned on the phone so she doesnt have to refund me the difference. Suddenly I got a bill for something I didnt owed.

1. Charged to my care credit $2090 (paid in full for a sets of flexible partials that I do not have) 

2. Sets of ultra partials$2050 (which i received)

3. My responsibility to pay to the dentist per metlife $1233

Network fee$1644. 

4. Temporary upper and lower partials was free of charged. Dr Aitken billed me $734.00 for it to avoid refunding me the difference.

Unable to obtain a copy of my dental record

 On October 2 2015 I went to Affordable Denture to obtain a copy of dental record. I was told by the front desk employee to comeback today Monday October 5 2015. When I went back and ask for my dental record, I was told by the employee that Dr. Michelle Lynn Aitken told them to tell me that she doesn't want me in the clinic anymore. And they cannot provide me my dental record. The employee also said that it will be mail to me. I asked how long, the employee said she doesn't know. And its up to Dr. Michelle Lynn Aitken. When i left the clinic, i received a voicemail from two different officers calling me about an incedent today at Affordable Denture. I don't believe that there was an incedent happened today that involved me. When I spoked with the officer, i explained to them that the reason i was there because the employee told me to come back to pick up my dental record. I also told the officer that the employee should've at least call me to let me know that they are not going to give me a copy of my dental record today. Affordable Dentures also shared my husband phone number to the authority as they also called my husband phone. Affordable Denture Dr Michelle Lynn Aitken reported me to the authorities because I went to the clinic to request for a copies of my dental record. Last year when i asked Dr Michelle Lynn Aitken for a refund, she threatened me that she is going to make up a bill so there will be no more left for a refund. Then last month September 2015 she threatened me with dafamation and libel because i shared my opinion based on my truthful experienced with her and with her clinic. I have constantly threatened by her. On top of the pain Ive been having which is the reason why i no longer wear the partials i paid in full. I have been suffering from mentally distress because of my experienced with Dr. Michelle Lynn Aitken.

 September 2015 Update: I had contacted Ripoff Report and requested to delete this review because of Dr. Aiken demand and suit threats. I have been threatened with defamation and slander suit by Dr. Michelle Aitken if I don't take down this review. She accused me of false statements was posted on Rifoff Report. She also indicated that she will be seeking attorneys fees and fees for defamation and slander. I have shared my opinion to Ripoff Report based on my truthful experience with her and her dental clinic. Dr. Aitken continously threatening me with suit even though I'm already working on solving the issue with her. I asked her to stop her threats already. She just on and on with her suit threats and she threatened that she will call a police if I don't stop calling her. I have responded to her phone call to solve this issue. Dr. Aitken is not willing to solve the issue as she continously threatening me with her suit. She said that her attorney's first correspondence will arrived to the address that they have on file this week.

At our office, patient satisfaction is of the utmost importance.  To date, we have proudly serviced over 22,000 patients in our office alone!!  We are honored to be providing smiles to so many people in our community.  The smiles we have created have helped people feel better about themselves, have helped them obtain jobs, have helped them eat, and have helped them speak.  We treat every as if they are family.  We take all complaint seriously.  We view this complaint as libel and we will proceed accordingly.  

We absolutely accept MetDentalMetLife dental insurance.  Under the terms of our contract with MetDental/MetLife, they offer a reimbursement rate for up to $918.00 for the covered services of Economy and Custom Dentures.  Metdental/Metlife does not cover Premium and Ultra Dentures entirely.  IF a patient selects a Premium or Ultra Denture due to cosmetics, the patient is to pick up the cost differential.  This was verified wth Marilyn at Metlife/Metdental in October 2014.  Marilyn stated that our office was absolutely correct in charging the patient the difference between what was a covered procedure and what the patient selected.  Marilyn explained like this--if a patient gets a posterior composite filling  (a white colored filling instead of silver) but the plan only covers amalgam (a silver, less expensive filling), the patient is to pay the differnce between what is a covered procedure and what was done (here is it would be the difference in cost between the amalgam filling and composite filling).  We are more than happy to call Metlife/Metdental on a three way call with the patient to clear up any issues and explain this further.  

While we would love to do free denture work for everyone, unfortunately, we cannot do this in order to stay in business to provide excellent denture/partial services.  To keep our prices low, we charge patients for the services we provide to them.  We also must treat every patient the same.  If we do 4 partials for a patient, then we charge a patient for 4 partials as we are allowed to do according to the law.  When a patient buys a partial or denture from us, we never charge for wax try-ins.  A patient can change the color, shape, and size of their teeth as many times as they want during a wax try-in and we will not charge them extra. We consider this part of the denture/partial process.  We do not think it is unreasonable to charge a patient for the amount and kind of partials they take home.  These prices are noted on our price list and there are no "hidden fees". 

We stand by our work 100%.  We want every patient to be happy and we go above and beyond to do this.  We realize wearing partials and dentures is not easy.  Our staff is with you every step of the way to help make sure each patient leaves with an amazing smile.  Thank You!
