I was severely injured at work and I needed Aflac to back me up with my short term disability. See I have been paying on it for almost five years. Well here is were the fun begins Aflac won't pay because I was hurt at work funny right. So I asked what difference does it make I'm unable to work now. They said it would be like I was getting payed twice because of workers comp. Well workers comp only pays you about two thirds of your actual pay. If I had known that the disability insurance would not cover me in this I would have never taken it because I work on signs and deal with danger of electrocution heights and other things on a daily basis. I even talked with the agent about that before buying the policy better safe then sorry she said nothing about if you get hurt at work your screwed. Well I've learned a lesson a duck can also be a snake never knew that was possible. If you are heaving the same problem as me its to late for your money too and you and me can just kiss it goodbye. If anyone from Aflac is reading this just know I hope the millions of people you screw each day give you all a incurable STD and that you have Aflac insurance so you won't get paid.

To much faith in people

All of you that are saying I should have read the policy I agree with you all one hundred percent but seeing as how the policy was offered at work and I was on the clock didn't have time to read it and the agent told me that I had to hurry to get this insurance before rates went up. No excuse right but the agent was there to sell me a policy not screw me and she did both because I asked her about this issue and she said yes I was covered. Guess I have too much faith in people telling the truth. But the least Aflac could have lubed up before they screwed me. Life is too short to lie to people and it isn't right to give them false security. But life is also too short too stay mad and so what I was taken by a duck with a snakes head but ill let god deal with the things they do its not up to me to judge. I just hope that people see this before they are taken like me so they don't lose faith in people too.

The comment listed above is correct. NO short term disability, Aflac or otherwise will pay if you are drawing workers compensation for an on the job accident, if you are covered by workers comp. There are a few exceptions where owners are not on workers comp. with their business. Most agents are clear when this is discussed and it is definitely in the policy. This is by my understanding - I'm licensed in my state - based upon IRS regulations and not the provider themself. You can not draw more than aprx. 70% of your pre-disability income from ANY sources.
Had AFlac STD and used it - illness - no problems. I am NOT a fan of most of the internal workings of the company and a lot of the agents - BUT the product is what it says it is.

I have a coupla comments:
1. Your agent should have known better and told you that injuries on the job weren't covered. BUT...
2. You should have read your policy. It clearly states that disabilities caused by on-the-job accidents aren't covered.
3. There isn't a disability policy in the world that will pay you more than 2/3 of your pay back. Just the way things work.
I'm sorry you got hurt, and your agent should have been more thorough, but it was your responsibility to read and know what you bought. Hope you get better soon.
