AIU Online University AKA American InterContinental University misleading information about tuition and necessary classes ripoff Hoffman Estates Illinois

I commend your attempts at furthering your education. It's too bad you were too lazy to do the research required to find a good school. This school is a FOR PROFIT university. If you don't know what that means, then perhaps you should have asked someone. I'm sure your teachers in High School would have been more than willing to assist you with understanding the repercussions of this small but significant fact.

The school is run like a corporation where the only thing that matters is the bottom line. The "students" are customers. Your advisors are Customer Service representatives. All the rules and regulations are DESIGNED to milk you, the customer, for every penny. The school rides a thin line between passing accredidation and losing it as evident by the recent placement on probation.

Will your degree be worth anything? Sad fact is, most employers, including myself, do not hold online degrees in very high regard. Especially those coming from a for profit university. The only merit I add to the cadidates I interview who hold online degrees is that they were willing to put in the effort.

Remember that "admissions councelor" that contacted you? They are Inside Sales people. The "criteria" upon which candidates (i.e. customers) are accepted is so low that anyone will pass acceptance standards. I've seen them admit people with GEDs that have no PC. And all the rules and regulations are CLEARLY PRINTED IN YOUR STUDENT HANDBOOK. It's too bad you were too lazy to read through it. Remember the signed form you sent in saying that you read it? You can't start classes without signing that form. It's obvious you did not read a word of it.

So your primary complaint is with regard to the information you received. Well, in response I'd like to highlight the fact that the Inside Sales person will do anything to get you in. Once in, you're locked into an agreement that is designed to get your cash. Your customer sales representative is supposed to be your guide, but most often times they only have a high school degree and are unmotivated. So you're being a squeaky wheel on a sinking ship that is designed to pump all your cash out of you. What did you expect? It is a FOR PROFIT institution!!! Just because the Inside Sales person deluded you into their sales pitch and your customer sales representative didn't guide you correctly, shouldn't mean you should slander the individuals who are employees of the institution. Complain all you want about the university, but leave the employees out of it. I happen to have been a former employee and we are hard working individuals who saw this as an opportunity to make some money. Your advisor is at the bottom of the corporate ladder and has no control over policies or regulations. If you're going to complain, do it to Career Ed. Corporation; the parent company of AIU and CTU. You probably didn't know that either, which is sad.

Go to the Department of Education and File a complaint with them and their Office of the Inspector General. This is called Fraud in the worst way. Also file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission, FBI.gov submit a tip, U.S. Postal Inspectors and Internal Revenue Service and have them audited for criminal activity. If all else fails get an attorney and sue them. Bethany College (see the rip off reports) pretty much did the same thing to me and kept adding classes that I supposedly needed. then turned areound and expelled me under false pretenses, changed my classes, dropped me from classes without authorization and slandered me.
