Allegiant Air Charged for seat and overhead bag for their own screw-up. Tampa Florida

My wife paid for seat 8D on flight 816 on 2/27/14. The ground crew, at the last minute, decided to board with open seating (the flight was not late, in fact it left 3 minutes early).

My wife was in a wheelchair so she was loaded last and they placed her on the front bulkhead (which had no seat in front of her).

She had a small bag, which is allowed, that would have easily fit under a seat if there had been one in front of her.

The crew took her bag and placed it in the overhead. They said she had no choice. All the seats were full and she could not hold the bag in her lap.

Then she received a text message that her credit card had been charged $48.92 because the bag was placed in the overhead.

She was charged $13.00 for a seat she was not allowed to use and $48.92 for a bag the airline crew forced her to place in the overhead. A total overcharge of $61.92 which, apparently, is not refundable.

THIS IS A MAJOR RIP-OFF!!!
