I work between Alabama and Florida and have a house in both states insured by Allstate.  While staying in Florida half the time, I send my spouse and children to the Alabama home for summer vacation.  This year summer vacation there included an entire list of home repairs to keep the house tip top shape.  (windows, doors, jambs replaced with new if not functioning right).  Spouse left for Florida in mid July.  He went back in Sept 20th for fall repairs, gardening etc.

When husband returned 2 months (8 weeks) he found that a water leak in the master bedroom on the third floor had destroyed half the house.  The walls, carpets, counters, cabinets, ceiling, and wood floors have fallen from the 3rd to 2nd floor and on to basement.  Now Allstate says that it is not covered because it is under the clause of long-term damage and neglect of the property.

Not only did they fail to mention such clause existed, but they failed to send an original coverage statement when home bought.  Just sent us letter saying we had DELUXE PLUS COVERAGE, with extended replacement on dwelling personal property reimbursement.  2 MONTHS and is considered extended damage.

How is that supposed to cover when people take vacations or go away to school for a semester (that include 3 months at a time).  Or for those people that live part of their live in one house and not the other.  There is no time limit on the clause that i found on the internet.  It is "up to the insurance adjuster to make the decision".  So basically 3000 square foot of a 6000 square foot property is destroyed by water damage and mold and after 10 years of taking my money, all I get is a letter of denial.
