We, wife and I, have been trying to get our air conditioner repaired for several months now. We bought our home in November of 2006 and purchased a warranty with the home through American Home Shield at the time of purchase. The home is 45 years old so a warranty we thought was an excellent choice. When ever we called them they would come out and fix what every problem we had (send a technician that worked through their company), plumbing issues, and electrical. Until we needed work performed on our A/C unit. Technicians from Heating and Cooling had been sent to do the work. They looked over the unit and called AHS that said we needed to do some maintenance on the system. We just purchased the home and had no idea the system needed all the work they wanted done. That is why we purchased the warranty. The air worked when we bought the house. We had the ducts cleaned for 350 dollars we could not afford and cleaned the coils and in/around the unit. When the technician arrived this time AHS refused to repair or replace the unit stating that they do not cover maintenance and that they would do repairs if we replaced the compressor, a $3000 part. It is 100 degrees here sweltering and it frustrates me to see my children sweating profusely through out the day, while I work in an office with air. We purchased a home warranty because there may be some things wrong with home that we knew nothing about. They have been to house three times at $55 dollars each and we have had Sears clean the duct work at $350. A total of $515.00 of monies squandered away. Our thing is they could have said something months ago when the weather cooler, before the expense. This company kept making excuses not to repair the unit until their back was against the wall, only then did they say they would not repair or replace the unit due to lack of maintenance. The PAST owners failed to maintain, we are the new owners and we need service. It is to the point now that we cannot stand this house and are moving back to our home 30 minutes away. Please include me in the Class Action Suite. Something needs to be done about this company and soon before more Families are Ripped Off
