Today I received a bill from American Express with a charge for $96.34 for something called AEPC Member Services (T&L Golf TLGC Memb). I DID NOT make or authorize this charge.
I found on the Internet where several people are being charged for this same thing because they supposedly did not respond to a sweepstakes offer! This is more than unacceptable...it is a form of credit entrapment.
I immediately called 1-888-BLUE-741 and told them I did not make this charge. Not only did they say they would immediately reverse this; but, didn't even offer to explain. When a random customer service operator recognizes this charge and offers no explanation, it is clearly a widespread scam.
When this charge is reversed, I will cancel this card. I had always associated the name American Express with quality; but, they have lost any resemblance to quality or trust in the workplace.

If you do get this charge reversed, don't just cancell the card- report it stolen when you cancell it. I put up with 10 YEARS of unauthorized charged on my AmEx- when I cancelled the card, they continued to allow fraudulent charges for 6 months from the same company that I had been disputing for 10 years!
When I complained, the AmEx customer Service rep told me that AmEx allows cancelled cards to continued to be billed for 6 months after the account is closed unless the account holder reports them stolen at the time they close the account.
Pretty sad, eh? A major CC company, and they not only allow petty credit card fraud, they ENCOURAGE it!

You recognized an charge on your bill that you didn't authorize. You and every other cardmember. I can assure you that american express did not put that charge on your bill without you giving your authorization. Trust me, I work for them.
Just call american express, they take care of it. Now as far as cancelling your card. So babyish. The american express brand is a top tier lending brand. You cancel the card, and goodbye all the benefits of having the card go. So you see one charge you dont recognize and you cancel that card? ridiculous.
