American Family Insurance Reward for longevity Madison Wisconsin

 I was insured by American Family Insurance from November 1994 to November 2013 with three cars and my house. I know I could have got better insurance quotes for my cars but my attitude was to be loyal to my agent and my insurance company. To my horror AFI told me in September 2013 that they would no longer insure my house because I had a claim every 5 years whereas there average policyholder only had one every 12 years.

Now I always thought that insurance was to even out those who might have big claims and little claims and that everyone didn't have to be average. The reason for my five claims in 19 years were due to:

1 Act of God - Roof blown off car port

2 Catastrophe - Pipe burst under sink but water went into wall flooding another room detroying wooden floor

3 Act of God - Lightning Blew off our chimney

4 Catastrophe - Sewer backed up due to blockage by tree root flooding basement

5 Act of God - Air Conditioner damaged by freak hail storm

It appears that the only reason that AFI are doing this is because they can no longer make a profit by investing premiums in the current market place. However to have you insurance declined because of above average claims wher 3 were due to Acts of God seems to me to totally negate the principle of insurance and why do it to a loyal customer of 19 years.

I managed to get insurance for my house at 50% more premium and after paying $460 for testing!

I am sure that I have paid more in premiums than claims in 19 years. Additionally when the damage was notified on my A/C by my A/C inspector I was told by AFI that I had to have the A/C replaced even though there was minimal damage and I never even made the claim.
