Time to stop diploma mills
I have paid 40k plus for my education and worked very hard to learn and take something away with my attempted career change. After graduating in march with honors and a degree in programming I feel i gained very little to back up a degree with honors.
In addition, when I informed them I would be changing colleges to continue my education to masters and I felt intimidated by the recruitment counselor and the job assistance group. I received a few referrals from the recruitment office for jobs listed on monster.
However their links would take me to monster or similar job sites. Really i expected much more bang for the buck than the college and feel education takes a backseat to profit with this college. In addition, recruiter’s touted about the college accreditations so i was sold in going to a college I was sure was going to help me in my career change.
After graduating i began my search for a college to attend for my masters and began to realize i was vastly under qualified to go to any other colleges. I have unofficially inquired with several colleges and the realization after speaking with them that i didn’t even have the education and knowhow to gain a second bachelors much less a masters,
While I do have some personal fault as in thinking if the government gives a college accreditation it would be good enough to help me learn skills needed to start a career in computers. Now I couldn’t tell you how to write a simple java script much less any advanced programming.
I hope to inform young people that just because they claim they are a college doesnt mean you will learn anything even if the fed says its accredited. In addition, some compensation for the money and time I wasted in hopes of a better future that seems a far reach more than ever.

I personally think that if you attended this school and actually did the course work, you would know how to write a program. In my Java class, we wrote code for the discussion board and discussed the code. Plus, I utilized net-beans and eclipse to develop the necessary code per my Professors instructions. It just makes me laugh when idiots say they didnt learn anything because if you actually completed the assignments, you would have. Plus, I struggled reading 5 chapters per week and the materials for the discussion board postings.
I was not Summa c*m Laude, and I worked my butt off from 530- 2am for years, and all day Saturday and Sunday. So go try to sell that BS somewhere else.
