ASC is very inflexible. They do not speak to each other. One Dept. does not know what another is doing. I do not think they intentionally try to take people's homes but, they do not attempt to help save them either.

The people that work for ASC have strict guidelines that they must follow. They have no flexibility. There is no one that can make a decision without the computers assistance, either. Whether the employees can override the computer or not is unknown.

We have had two different loans with ASC. The first dealings with ASC were not very good. We were late on our mortgage payments by 60 days. At that time we were able to refi to get away from them. The new mortgage company then sold our loan to ASC before 30 days were up. We were verbally promised we would not be sold off to ASC. The Mortgage company was New Century Mortgage.

The refi only put us in a worse situation than we were in before. We are now 5 months behind with no possible chance of a refi. ASC saw to it that our credit was ruined.

We are currently trying to get some kind of workout. The forbearance plan that they put us on two months ago was impossible to meet. We could not afford the $3,090 a month for 4 months that they wanted us to pay. We were given 10 days to come up with the 1st payment. We made the 1st payment by the skin of our teeth. This put us behind on all of our other expenses. We then had to repay all of our other obligations and personal loans.

The second payment could not be made according to ASC's demands. We were immediately put back in default, even though I faxed a letter to them 4 days before the 2nd payment was due. In this letter, I asked for a 6 day extension of the 2nd payment. I even mailed the 2nd payment (according to my request letter) only to have it returned immediately.

Whether they will work with us to make the payments affordable is unknown. We are again at ASC's Great Computer's mercy. I will again post a rip-off report when I know something more either positive or, negative.

Some tips for anyone soon to be or, in default or, foreclosure:

1. Contact your mortgage company as soon as you know of a possible late payment.

2. Do not avoid your mortgage company.

3. Be very wary of any company that wants to charge you for helping you save your home. They can not do anything that you can not do yourself.

4. Be careful of other ripoff companies that propose to assume your loan for you for a set time period and then sell it back to you. You will only lose your home.

5. Do everything in your power to stay current or, get current.

What?

I just can't believe what I am reading here. "We were late on our mortgage payments by 60 days. At that time we were able to refi to get away from them".

Then you have the cahones to say "We are now 5 months behind with no possible chance of a refi. ASC saw to it that our credit was ruined.".

Come on now, you can't possibly be that dense. You ruined your own credit. Nobody did it for you. That's what happens when you don't pay your bills. What did you think would happen when you found someone else to refi you after being 60 days late? Of course they would dump your loan as quickly as possible. No one can make a guarantee who your loan will or will not be sold to. They just said that to make their commision, which was a lot, I can assure you.

As far as a ripoff, I agree with the other poster. There's absolutely no ripoff here. You bit off more than you could chew, and your paying the penalties now. Don't come here looking for a way out. If you're looking for sympathy, you'll find it in the dictionary between stupid and syphliss.

How were you ripped off?

I am confused on how you were ripped off. You stated you are 5 months behind but do not like the repayment plan they put you into to get THEIR money back. If you cannot afford the payment then you need to walk from the house and rent. Sorry for the harsh words but when you signed the loan papers with New Century you knew exactly what the payment would be but now you are complaining that you were put into a worse loan. Why would you sign them if it was a worse situation for you.

I don't see a valid complaint here, sorry!

P.S. no I do not work for this company. Yes, I am in the mortgage industry so I know exactly what I am talking about and everyday I hear the same complaint.... I was ripped off by ABC company because now I cannot afford my payment or they are trying to STEAL my house because I am behind on my payments, all they want is my equity.

I see three choices here, 1) bring your mortgage current 2)refinance, if there is equity there or 3) sell or walk from the house.
