Amerigas Amerigas Propane OVERCHARGE OXNARD, California

Received an unrequested gas delivery 01/07/10. I arrived while my tank was being filled, and I asked the delivery guy the price of propane. He said he didn't know and to call the company. I didn't follow up and received an ebill for $516.12 for 107.2 gallons. The per gallon price was $4.36. I called a friend to find what she was paying and was told $3.09 per gal. I called the company to complain and they dropped it to $3.46 a gal. That's still a rip off as far as I'm concerned, but the point is that they attempted to slip in the high price. At the same time a rental place was charging only $2.99 a gal. to fill small 5 gal. tanks and they were still making a profit. Talk about gouging! How many people pay their bill without checking the details and trusting the company. I've been with this company for a very long time and they still burned me. At least a $.90 a gal. overcharge and likely more than that. I'm going to call them to complain and to prevent automatic deliveries (which I never requested in the first place) and will now call around to find the best price. I plan on filing a complaint with the appropriate agencies to call attention to this practice. Buyer beware!!
