Anytime Fitness Dwight Ward Anytime Fitness Does Not Honor Free Pass sent from their email address! Roanoke, Virginia

I found a business card from a local Anytime Fitness Center on the bulletin board at Panera, followed the directions on the website listed on the card, then received a 14 Day Pass from the LOCAL gym's email address (bonsackva@anytimefitness.com).  When I called to make an appointment, they said they do not honor the 14 day pass, but could give me a 7 day pass. I referred to the email they sent and they still refused to honor it. So I just forgot about it and went on, then I get an email from the owner (Dwight Ward) asking me to come back and try out the gym, I proceeded to tell him about what happened and tried to explain it in plain English. Again, he was not budging on the pass and had the nerve to say they don't participate in the 14 day pass and pointed to a disclaimer at the bottom of the email. However, the 14 day pass came from THEIR email address, with their physical location listed. This is a scam, rip off, whatever you would like to call it. When someone offers you something, then takes it away before you even use it - that is called "bait and switch", not to mention false advertising. I do not want to patronize any business that lies, scams or cheats. Here is the email thread in its entirety - you can draw your own conclusions. Also, please note the attitude from the "owner".

Mr. F,Thank you for your feedback.  We do not participate in the 14-day pass option because I personally do not think it takes 14 days to decide whether or not you like a gym or it has what you need to be able to have a good workout that is why I offer a 7-day pass instead.  As with many large franchises, the franchisees are given the option as to whether or not they participate in a franchise wide offering (disclaimer below).  I wish you well in your search for a gym that fits your requirements.Sincerely,Dwight Ward Owner(540) 977-0830 Maximum 14 days free per person. You just don't seem to get it - if you don't want to participate in the 14 day pass, then DON'T send it out from YOUR email address. Whether or not it is automated or not, it is still coming from YOUR email address with your PHYSICAL address listed on the pass. Go back and re-read the email that I sent to you and then call your corporate office and find out how to opt out, so you don't continue having bad PR issues. At least I said something, most customers just move on and you never know why they go somewhere else.
