Today I received a call from ASTAR referring to a form concerning a cruise vacation I filled out some time ago. Boy was I surprised. The people I spoke to were very friendly and gave me every detail of the whole vacation I thought was free of charge. After about ten minutes I was giving up my credit card number while given each detail of how much this so called free vacation would cost me. A total of 900 US dollars (original price: 3200 US dollars).
So much for free vacation. I guess I was lucky I hadn't received my salary yet, because they ran a check on my account. When they found that my account was almost empty, the guy I was talking to told me they would hold my vacation for me and hung up. My first thought was that it was all a hoax and that they needed my creditcard number to drain my account of the remains of the little money I have left after this month's expenses. So I had to check.
Luckily, my money is still safely in my account. What would have happened if I did have the money? Would they have just taken it? 900 US dollars is about 3600 Norwegian kroner, and that's a lot of money. Especially considering the fact that this vacation was supposed to be free in the first place.
Please comment on this and let me know if anyone else has experienced the same.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Here is what would have happened

If you got as far as giving a credit card number up you had to have realised that it was not free. Astar will take nothing less than $250 USD from your account. If you had that much in there, it would be gone. The vacation is 998, its a complete rip off, consider yourself lucky that you didn't have the funds available. In any case you should still cancel your card, when we run card numbers and they come back with no funds, some employee's keep the CC#s. I am no longer with ASTAR. They're a bunch of crooks.
