Dear Sir (or Madam, as the case may be):
Your system SUCKS!! Your database is disjointed and apparently antiquated, your contact reporting and inputting is seemingly nonexistent, and your employees are RUDE BEYOND BELIEF!!!!!!!
I purchased a new car in September, and the dealer, Claremont Ford in Ontario, CA, told us that we would be receiving a payment book before the 1st due date, October 19. When we had not received one by Friday, October 18, I went online, found your website, and called the customer service number listed there. I told them what my problem was, and was told at that time that there would NOT in fact be any payment book, and that I would receive only a monthly statement sheet, which would include the payment stub for the next payment. I could have, in fact, actually received such a sheet, but after buying the new car my office mail nearly TRIPLED with unsolicited financing offers and assorted other unwanted advertisements and inducements, and I quickly began round-filing the bulk of them, unopened. The young man I spoke with in customer service was most polite and informative, and once I explained my situation, he offered to send a replacement statement sheet, assuring me that unless my payment was either repeatedly, or at least 30 days, late that I need fear no repercussions from your company. I assured him that it was our devout intention to avoid either situation, and hung up feeling confident that I was dealing with a well-managed company.
BOY, WAS I WRONG!!!
Beginning the NEXT BUSINESS DAY (Monday, October 21) I began receiving automated calls on my home phone AND my cell phone. Although I normally NEVER cooperate with computer-initiated calls, when I heard it was Auto One, I held on to see what was up. The collections (her word, not mine) agent who came on the line began with, I'm calling to find out why your payment for this month is late. I told her that I had spoken with her co-worker the preceding week, and that a duplicate billing statement was on its way to me, which would be immediately turned around with my payment, and my apologies, since this was very likely at least partially my own fault. She then said, You can't even make your FIRST payment on time? I attempted to ignore her rudeness, and told her that the dealer had us looking for a coupon book (like Ford or GMAC would issue), but that we now knew otherwise. Her response was, So do you want to put this on your credit card, or do you want to do a check on the phone? I said that I would keep the original arrangements as agreed to the previous week, but thanks anyway.
The next call came about an hour later, then two hours after that, and approximately TWENTY-THREE TIMES SINCE THEN, UNTIL JUST NOW, when I was told my file showed only a SINGLE call, FROM YOU TO ME, ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23!!!!
And each caller seems more rude than the one before!!! JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOUR EMPLOYEES THINK THEY ARE, AND WHY ARE THEY APPARENTLY TRAINED TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS
Just because our credit wasn't good enough for one of the Big Three to finance us (and you don't even know what might have caused the couple of years before this one to be so tough for us--- only that we were able to come up with a combined down payment of nearly $5000 NOW, and that we have a combined income of nearly $65,000 NOW)--- let me assure you that it was WE who decided that we could now afford a new car NOW, NOT THE DEALER--- OR YOUR COMPANY. We have no intention of allowing this account to be recorded or reported as delinquent, and we have even LESS intention of cringing and whimpering before some bullying collection agent who has decided that we are beneath their contempt because Ford wouldn't finance us!!!
IF YOU WANT THIS CAR BACK, COME AND GET IT--- AND WE'LL CONTINUE THIS IN COURT TOMORROW!!!
I got my account number from the dealer, and the address off your website, and HERE IS THE PAYMENT! If you cash this check, however, I will expect an apology from someone in your company who can assure me that this will not happen ever again to me or any other of your customers who may inadvertently wander into the propeller of your employee's intentional (and apparently officially sanctioned) rudeness!!!
ONLY THEN WILL I CONSIDER THIS MATTER CLOSED.
And please remember that my credit report cannot possibly tell you who I am, how smart or ignorant I might be, or what resources I may have to respond with, should my financial credibility and security be threatened as it has been by your collection agents
(and why the hell was I talking to a collection agent the DAY AFTER the payment was due, to begin with?
