USUALLY I DONT BUY FROM AUTOZONE BECAUSE OF QUALITY CONCERNS. I HAD PURCHASED A TURN SIGNAL SWITCH FOR A 97 JIMMY AND A COIL FOR 98 GALANT FOR CUSTOMERS AT MY SHOP ON A SUNDAY. HENCE WHY I WENT THERE. AFTER INSTALLING THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH I TESTED THE HAZARD BUTTON AND IT FELL OUT . I WENT BACK TO THE STORE FOR ANOTHER WHICH THEY DID NOT HAVE , OR NONE OF THEIR OTHERS STORES .SO I WENT TO ADVANCED AUTO PARTS BOUGHT IT THERE CHEAPER. THE NEXT WEEK I RETURNED WITH THE PART AND WAS OFFERED ANOTHER TO REPLACE IT WITH. I ASKED FOR RETURNED FUNDS OR STORE CREDIT BUT WAS DENIED. I WAS TOLD THIS IS POLICY BY THAT STORE. I WENT TO ANOTHER STORE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY SHOULD HONOR THE RETURNS , ONLY RETURNS COULD BE MADE AT STORE OF PURCHASE. HERE IS WAY I SEE IT U GET WHAT U PAY FOR . THE BOX THE PART COMES IN IS BETTER QUALITY THAN THE PART ITSELF. THIER COMPETITIORS SELL BETTER AND DELIVER TO SHOPS BECAUSE OF COMMITTMENT FOR QUAILTY AND HONOR . THEY DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT WARRANTY CONCERNS THEY HANDLE IT ....

Tell them that it is your personal policy not to buy at stores that have a problem with returns and talk to everybody about it. This is the only language that these clown understand.

To "Mechanic in Berlin NJ" Autozone's return policy is printed on all receipts, the website and is posted in every store somewhere near the checkout area. In fact, the website has a banner that states "buy here / return anywhere". That is fact. If a store refuses a return, that store is violating company guidelines. Period. In the case were a customer does not have a receipt the manager on duty may offer a store credit; good at any Autozone. It is not a good practice to refuse returns, It is crazy for a company lose a customer over a return of a few dollars.

I decided never ever to go to an Autozone store again. They used to be different in the past but it looks like there is some kind of directive from their corporate office in regards to returns.
They even started to contract an "External Return Approval Company" that will put your driver's license on a black list after one single return without a receipt.
The store won't be able to do anything for you anymore even if they have been knowing you for years and if you have been one of their most loyal customers. If the system says "return denied" then the store won't be able to help you anymore.
The only thing (and this is what I strongly recommend) is to go somewhere else where you are still treated like a customer.
