I was in a Pueblo, CO located Autozone July 31 approx 6:30pm when one of the employees threw a part/bolt/nut. the part hit me in the back of my bare calf, bounced off and still managed to hit a box with a loud enough impact to startled my wife (who had not know I had been hit). The employee said oh sorry didn't see you then walked off. At the counter I said "You know you hit me with that" His reply... (laughing) oh well... IT GETS WORSE!!!

I called the 800 number (found via the net) forced to listen to a grueling message about some scanner problem TWICE (it hung up after the first message) before getting to speak to someone. The woman who answered could not understand English (no problem --I asked for some one else to speak with) while on hold I switched to speaker phone. The female representative accidentally switches off the mute Both myself and my Spanish-speaking wife CAN HEAR HER TALKING to another representative in Spanish-- her words: translated some "STUPIDO GRINGO"... He can just wait on hold... I'm not going to help him... screw the stupid gringo... " Etc. She caught her error and switched the mute back on.

I call back, (listen to the darn unrelated grueling message again) rip them a new one about customer service (I am understandably pissed off by now). The person (probably the one she was talking with) says he will document everything and pass it onto a manager who will call me tomarrow.

THE COVER-UP BEGINS: August 1st, 2:30pm still no call. I phone the Autozone Call-Center. I tell the "new" representative of the prior days events. NO RECORD OF MY EVER HAVING CALLED! Hum! Interesting. I stress my "CONCERN" over the call centers treatment of me the night before. He says that a regional manager will contact me regarding the incident in the store. I specifically ask "DID YOU DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT WITH THE FEMALE REPRESENTATIVE CALLING MY A STUPIDO GRINGO?" His response --with many stutters--uh no uh uh uh uh uh uh a regional manager will contact you okay...

Finally a regional manager contacts me. He expresses the concern over the incident in one of his stores. Great! That is all I wanted "ORIGINALLY", but what about the rude representative in the call center that called me all the nasty names? The call center has no record as far as he knows. He said he is contacting the Call Center Supervisor and will get back to me. He actually seems concerned. (this is the only person who actually does something) He calls me back and says that the Autozone Call Center Supervisor will contact me.

The Autozone supervisor does call me expresses concern. I explain to her about the others trying to cover-up the insults and name calling of the female representative and how they kept refusing to document it and tell her about it. She seemed concerned and said they would investigate it.

August 2, 2005 1:20pm The Autozone Call Center Supervisor calls me back THE COVER-UP CONTINUES!!! She said that it was a misunderstanding and that I misunderstood the girl's words and that she was just trying to explain to the other person about my original complaint, that her words (STUPIDO GTRINGO!) were just a mistake on my part in the translation into Spanish DID I MENTION that my wife is fluent in Spanish (Raised by her Immigrant Mexican grandmother) and that I had the speaker on?.

Okay, Okay, Maybe I could interpret some of the words incorrectly, but there is no way to put the words STUPIDO GRINGO back-to-back in a sentence and have it translate to Stupid Store in English. This aside from the fact that MY WIFE SPEAKS FLUENT SPANISH and understood the translation clearly!

In other words, the AUTOZONE Call Center Supervisor took the words of the Co-employees who I had already reported as covering up for their co-worker and basically believes That Both my Spanish Speaking Wife and my self misinterpreted the specific words STUPIDO GRINGO as stupid white person instead of stupid store. Not to mention the rest of the words that came out of her mouth Autozone can kiss my...
