   I bought a 6 month membership for my girlfriend for christmas. It came with a 6 month free membership for me. It was required to be redeemed by Jan 3rd, I bought on Jan 9th so I had plenty of time. We went to the gym on Dec 21st and right away it was obvious they did not care about customers. The girl who worked there was siting on the counter with her feet up and completly ignored me once I showed I had a free membership, nevermind the fact I had already pre-paid a membership for 6 months.


   She ignored us until I finally got a manager, Scott, to help us. He took us back to his office and he explained he could not give me our IDs because he did not belive my card was valid. My wallet had been stolen the previous week and I was waiting for a replacement. The card did not say my name but all the info on the card is identical to the info that was printed on the offical card. I explained everything was already paid for but kept insisting he needed to put a card on file and that his machine would not accept this card if he tried. I tried to explain the card is real and works everywhere and I already had a card on file in the first place. Scott refused to even attempt to run the card or help me in anyway. He procceed to write me a 7 day guest pass and send me on my way.


   I tried several other times to get Scotts help but were complelty unsuccessful. We just kept getting guest passes from Joe at the front desk and that started getting real old having to wait 15 mintues everyday to show your contract just to get a guest pass.


   The day before the 3rd my new debit card arived and finally I thought Scott would be happy and this whole ordeal would be over but I was wrong. I had to be out of town for a trip by 3pm and I got mail at 1pm so I hurried over to Bally to give them my card and get my passes.


   I walk in and the person at the desk runs my card and the says I just had to sign a paper and I would be on my way. That is when he realized that someone was printing out something on their only printer. I said I could wait a second but I had to leave soon as it was now 1:25pm. The prinnting went on for another then mintues and I told the front desk person I was in a real hurry could he please interrupt the print and print my sheet so I could sign it and be on my way. The guy went and found Scott and it turns out he was printing a very large document and it could take sometime. He said it was very important and that he could not stop it anyways. Which is a lie. I took a million computer classes in college and I am very familiar with the 'interrupt' function.


   I found that insanly rude and asked if I could just come in when I get back in town and sign it then. I also asked about my guest membership which expired the next day. The front desk person told me that would not be a problem just come in when I get back in town.


   When I got back in town Scott took one look at my contract and told me that my guest mebership was not redeemed in time and that he could not accept it. I then explain and reminded him of the whole conversation I had with his staff and how I was told it would be no problem. He then had the nerve to tell me, "You should have come in before it expired to redeem this and I could have helped you." I then told him I had talked to him on four seperate days about this and each time he failed to help me. I then remined him of the fifth day in which I came in and he was printing something and I did not have the time to wait for his project. He then dared to be even ruder by saying, "I can not control your schedule, I have a lot of things to do around here and I can't control how you manage you time, you had plenty of time to redeem this and you did not. Your fault."


   How can he say this after all the attempts I made? Why is it so difficult for a gym maneger to print off a membership? Is it incompitence or pure rudness and neglect? Why d that to a customer who had paid for his mebership in advance?


   I wrote and called and asked for s refund. I never got a respone and going to do anything to bring this company down, or at least spread the word about how evil they are.

Hi!I'm a Bally member and  the  victim of the same employee (Mr. SCOTT from Bally -Mount Prospect,IL.).I have a complaint on file made on o1/28/2010 regarding the  incident from 01/27/2010.On the 01/27/2010 Mr. SCOTT become very nervous  just because I had a mere opinion about the schedule.That day I left the club at 10:07 PM.( I was late few minutes and I apologized) . Mr.SCOTT threaten me, saying that he can cancel my membership and looked at me contemptuously.I ask  what is his name but he refuse to provide it.After that he become very angry and start to intimidate me , asking me the membership card . I didn't pay atention to his attiude and I left the club safe.I'm a member of Bally for 8 years and this is my first incident and first complaint . Yes Mr Angry Gym Member ,is a big difference between violent and angry . False testimony is illegal.  THE CAMERA is the only trusty witness we(consumers)  have. Yes ,the action of one gym manager or any other employee do not reflect an entire company but can destroy the fame of any company.I LIKE BALLY , and I hope Mr. SCOTT will correct his attitude. I have never been to  any Bally Club after the incident but I will start to workout again probable at another club(safe is better). If you wanna contact me I will be glad to help.Thank You! and Thanks Bally too!

Happy Ending

Since my last post I spoke with Mimi Luk at corporate HQ. She was very helpful, polite, kind, I really can't say enough nice about her. I am happy to say that Bally has agreed to issue me a full refund as the actions of one gym manager should not reflect an enitre company. Now that I have my refund I am perfectly fine with RipOff report removing my testimonial.

It only gets worse

It only gets worse. I took my case to the BBB and Bally (Mimi Luk), phone number avalible by request, responded to the BBB with a series of lies making me out to be an irresposible consumer that never came in to redeem my pass before the expiration date. They basically sent a series of lies. Here is the response: Please be advised that after further investigation with the Mt. Prospect club location, they advised us that Mr. Beerup came into the club on 2/5/10 to redeem the 6 month membership. He was advised at that time that the certificate had expired. Please note that the club also stated he became very violent with the front desk receptionist. We apologize that Mr. Beerup missed the deadline to redeem the 6-month membership. As stated previously, Ms. Kurtenbach is still currently using her membership, therefore a refund is not warranted. If she decides to stop her electronic payments, she may place the request in writing, per her contractual agreement. If any further assistance is needed, please contact our Member Support Center at 1-866-402-2559. Thank you.

First of all, Ms. Kurtenbach is not using this membership anymore due to the treatment we recieved that day and she never returned since. Secondly, I became angry becasue I got cheated, not violent. Bally told a series of lies and the BBB bought the whole thing and I got cheated. Believe me, this is no where near over.

Hey, all I want is my 139.96 back. I am glad to see someone from Bally finally took the time to at least respond. Just so everyone knows. I have contacted the Better Buisness Bearua, numerous Vetreans Organizations I am invovled with the spread the word against Bally, and I am investigating other outlets to get my money back. I am not going to stop until I get my money back. So when I do get my money back I will remove all my bad post and retract my complaints made at several organizations.
