I have been a Bank of America customer for over 8 years. Over the years they have upset me so many times. Now, since the economic crisis and they are largely in the middle of it they are putting customers in debt, to pay their own.
I am so tired of being charged OD fees because they are holding transactions to post to accounts to which they know funds are not availible. I did this on purpose to see if its consistant. I purchased gas at a gas station on Friday. It didnt clear until Wednesday night. I puchased gas on Tuesday, it cleared on Thursday night. The same gas station. "over-draft fee triggered".
This is the most important of all they are misleading customers with the online banking. The first page does not clearly depict when items hit your account. You have to click on a small link on the left hand side of the page to see when the items hit your account. And it says fee triggered. Why is there two different clearences to your account? I have no idea. Ive told them that whatever they see on their system we should see when we log in. Its not fair to say here's a glimpse of the your account but if you want to know what we are really doing click this small little link over here, if your smart enough to see it.
I am so tired of this company and paying fees because they choose to hold items to trigger and OD fee. This is my money that I work hard for. I havent cursed in over 2 months but I did today at them. They are making me lose my religion too! They made their mistakes and now I have to pay for them. I hate Bank of America, new bank shopping on Monday. I wonder if Wacovia is ticking off customers.

A 'BIG EVIL BANK' is a bank that would....

take out 'SECRET LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES' on its current & former employees, without their knowledge or consent, & collect the benefits when these people DIE, wouldn't everyone agree?

Again...

Once again Ronnie you are trying to turn everyone into a "victim" of the BIG EVIL BANK. So yes again the point needs to be made that the bank is not your accountant, babysitter, or Parents. It is the account holders responsibility to manage their account.
"Now of course anyone can overdraft due to error, keeping bad records,"
- Time and time again the "errors" are not caused by keeping "bad" records but NO records. This post is a perfect example. It does not matter when the transactions POSTS. The OP knew they spent the money. So they KNOW that it will come out of their account. But they go into all of this extra effort to try and prove something that is not happening.
"or out of necessity,"
- Again most of the time the people that are overdrafting and have the "fee avalanche" are people who have a combination of using their Debit cards for small purchases and not keeping track. These are places such as Fast Food resturants, convienience stores, the USPS(for a $0.42 cent stamp). A lot of these places you don't expect a person who is on Poverty's doorstep to be spending money at. Ask anyone of these people after the fact was it worth $35 for a $2 soda. In your logic it is OK as long as you are only charged one fee? I tend to think that most other people would say NO. But then you ask them why they didn't manage their account you often will get the "Deer in the Headlights", where they had no idea that they are supposed to actually manage their own money. The vast majority of people do not overdraft their account and "get it". And yes, a lot of these people live paycheck to paycheck as well.
Back to the OP. The bank is not intentionally delaying posting, and the times are fairly consistant. First know that Saturday and Sunday's are NOT banking days so you can't consider that in your assumptions. If you make the purchase on Friday the Gas Station probably did not process it until Monday night. So the earliest it would post at your bank is Tuesday night, and did post on Wed. So that is 4 days. Then on Tuesday to Thursday is 3 days. So yes it did take 1 extra banking day, but that could be for any number of reasons. But most likely it is the merchant(gas station) delay than the bank. However, I still have to go back to the main point that YOU knew you spent the money.
"This is my money that I work hard for."
- This is the best line and I hope that you take this to heart. It is YOUR money, so you need to take responsibility for YOUR money. In all of the time you are spending, in going on line, trying to prove the bank wrong. You can keep a simple register and write down your transactions as you make them, with time to spare.

Wachovia same thing

Wachovia does the same thing with re sequencing the transactions in the event of ONE legitimate overdraft in order to be able to charge to an avalanche of fees from items that did have the funds at THEIR time of transaction. Don't ask me how this is legal, or how they get away with it...but according to responses I have read on a few of the HUNDREDS and thousands of similar rip off reports..it is in the terms and conditions we signed, so they can do this.
Unfortunately it targets and victimizes the most struggling pay check to pay check customers, as well as the sick, injured, elderly and poor. Now of course anyone can overdraft due to error, keeping bad records, or out of necessity, but instead of being charged one fee..the re sequencing sees to it that you are charged a BUNDLE full. This is BullS**t and must be stopped. Because the banks are well aware of who is more likely to overdraft...it's obvious.
There are class action lawsuits being put together but those will most likely just make the lawyers rich and we will get a pittance. So you are better off fighting this out with your bank...be polite but call often..or go there and speak to the bank manager. If you are consistent you may get it all back, but most likely they will offer you half..better then nothing.
What you can do to stop this practice is call/write your congressman , senators, the White House..if enough of us do this..and keep this rip off publicized..the laws may change that allow this practice by the banks..this practice really places some people in hardship and we are in an economic crisis. Well so is your bank and perhaps that is why they do this..but it's not right at all.

am so tired of being charged OD fees because they are holding transactions to post to accounts to which they know funds are not availible.
Why are they not available?
I did this on purpose to see if its consistant.I purchased gas at a gas station on Friday. It didnt clear until Wednesday night.
When did it show as pending?
Station did not transmit till mondayI puchased gas on Tuesday, it cleared on Thursday night. The same gas station. "over-draft fee triggered".
Same question.
Were these debit or charge items if charge then the station did not put in the transation for number one till monday, second transation was on wed.
My debit card shows them pending right away on line, I do not care when they post to payed because I know how much money I have in the bank. i use Quicken to keep track of ALL my transation. The only time I use on line balance is to balance my account once a week.

No Rip Off Here

Why do people always scream RIP OFF when they don't have enough money in the bank to cover their purchases? If anyone is ripping anyone off, it is you. No matter what bank you go to I'm sure it will be handled like it was at BOA. Sheesh, people, the days of floating money is over. Keep tabs on your money with a register and don't expect the bank to be your babysitter.
