My husband and his late wife had accounts with Bank of America for several years. Judy Ann passed away and before he met me, had a good working relationship with BOA.
I met Fred and married him in 2002. On Nov. 19,2002, we were prepaing to leave for our honeymoon when we got a call from Mrs. Barbara Noss of BOA telling us "we discovered that we had given your savings account number to another customer in another state, but we didn't make any mistakes." Consequently, our savings account number was changed without our consent, nothing in writing, just done for us. Too bad so sad for us.
In May of 2002 we discovered that Fred had been paying on a life insurance policy for Judy and when we notified the company that she had passed away, they promptly paid us the value of her policy, no questions asked. We put that money in our savings account that later had the number changed.
Since that time, we have lost close to $200,000.00 to Bank of America and their sloppy and fradulent handling of our accounts and money. We are hoping to find a lawyer who will help us take them on in an effort to recoup our losses. We are retirement age and now my husband and I will have to work until we die in order to afford just to live.
Bank of America also calls us several times per day, 7 days per week harrassing us about our accounts. We are so sick of this corporate mafia bank we could just upchuck!!
Thanks for listening.

I would call the OCC immediately. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is the Primary Regulator on national banks. The OCC really helped me with B of A. Their address and phone number is. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, 1301 Mckinney street, suite 3450 Houston,TX 77010 1-800-613-6743

BoA gave another customer in another state the same account number? Impossible. I am a customer of BoA and I know for a fact that the numbers are issued according to what state you are in. My Florida account number is nothing like my account numbers in NC or MD. I think someone has misled you ma'am about the $$ missing from your husbands' accounts. You don't suppose he may be trying to stash some of it away do you? Of course not.

I'm not sure how exactly you "lost" the money unless when they gave the other person your account number, they also gave them your money. I would contact the Attorney General's office in your state and the "other state" where the customer who got your account number resides and see if they can give you any assistance. I assume this bank is federally insurance, so you will want to contact the federal government as well.
