In Jan 2007 I purchased a 2004 Nissan 350 Z from Bankston Nissan. I am a single woman and I requested an extended warranty that had bumper to bumper coverage. I was very clear about this. The man asked me if I wanted to add coverage for the brakes because he said they are very expensive to repair on this particular car. I said yes. Today, 3.26.09, I went to a different Nissan dealership that is closer to my home and was trying to put my car in the shop because of the brakes and some other issues. The service man could not locate my warranty coverage on his computer using the vin number so I contacted Bankston. They gave me the number to Western General and once on the phone with them, the man advised me that I did not have a bumper to bumper warranty and that in fact I only had a very limited warranty. He advised the service man that I needed to pay upfront and then be reimbursed IF anything is covered. I was told at Bankston when I purchased the car that my deductible was $100 and that there would not be any other fees to pay for anything under the bumper to bumper warranty. I was very clear about this because I wanted to know what my responsibility would be monetarily if I ever needed to use the warranty. Single women are ripped off every day and this is just another example of it. I will not ever purchase a vehicle from Bankston anything. I now have a worthless warranty that I paid alot of money for but no coverage. I will have to look up the documents to learn of the exact amount I paid but I believe it was approximately 1200.

Extended Warranty

It sounds like what you purchased was an extended warranty. The term "Bumper to Bumper" is mis-leading. Back in 2000, I worked for North Texas Nissan as a salesman. We were told NEVER to say bumper to bumper, only Limited Mfg. Warranty. Extended warranties cost around $1200.00. But the warranty does not cover wear and tear items such as brakes, only manufacturer defects. It does frustrate me when I hear bumper to bumper, it's just the most mis-used phrase with dealerships and consumers alike. I do believe there is a maint. package you can purchase to help cover future repairs. Just remember that you need to read and keep ALL paper work, especially on extra coverages purchased.
