I first visited Baron Auto Mall with my sister in law (I went with her because i dont have good credit) on 08/26/2007, I went there looking for Nissan Murano that they advertised. once there they did not have the car that was looking for, instead they a ML500 Mercedes Benz 2004, i liked the Mercedes the sticker price was $25,000.00, I trade in Mazda 626 LX 2002 that was paid in full i accepted the offer of $4,000 for the Mazda plus i gave $2,000 Cash, I was told that the monthly payment will be $400.00. I let Mr. Olavi the salesperson know that that payment was a little be too high for my budge I told him you see how much money i make and beside I given $6,000.00 down how come is $400.00 he explained the dealer cost and taxes I agreed to the payment, I signed some paper and my sister in law also signed, and i drove the car home the same day; because that day was a sunday I did not get any paper.

In about 4 weeks i received the booklet with monthly payments of $541.00 and not for $400.00, i went to the dealer, I spoke with the manager Mr. Piero he told me not to worry about that was going to make the payment directly to the dealer, for 3 months i used to go the dealer with a $400.00 money order and they made the payment, in January 2008 the car had a heavy leaks, I called the dealer and I was told they sold me a warranty that I only have to bring the car to them; i did brough the car to the dealer they put me on a rental car for 11 days, they were suppose to pay for the rental, but they never did, in April my credit card overdraft. The car kept given me problems in March 2008, I called Baron and Mr. Lou Piero the Manager told me to bring the car to the Mercedes Dealership for an estimated, that he will pay to fix it, I took the car to the Mercedes Benz dealership in Manhattan I paid $200.00 for the estimated and to fix the car will cost $3,000.00 I took the written estimated to Mr. Piero; Mr. Piero told me to go back to the dealer on Friday after work, that he will work something better for me.

I went back there on Friday with my sister in law again, she showed me a Lexus GX 470 2005, and he told That my payment will be $436.00, and that was better car. I drove the car and i liked, my sister in law signed some papers in blank I did not sign ( I believed that Mr. Piero said that he wanted to help), after the first months I did not received the booklet for the payments and every time that i calle Mr. Lou Piero he told no to worry about that they were working on another 45 days grace period, I tought he really want to help me in June my sister in law received a call from a collection agency and that her car was going to be reposesed, she called and I have to come with almost $3,000.00 and the surprise that the real monthly payments are $955.78, for 72 months. the car is in my sister in law name and I can not ruin her credit. every month I go crazy.

Many car dealers are shady.

They will take you for whatever you are willing to sign for. That's the point of negotiation. If you do not represent yourself adequately in the negotiation process, you certainly can't expect the other side to do it for you.

After reading this account, I suggest that neither you nor your sister in law ever set foot on a car lot again without a responsible adult there to keep you from signing your life away. I gather from your story that you never read anything that you signed (otherwise none of this mess would be a surprise to you). Blank contracts? Really?

"every month I go crazy"

You certainly do. You are living way beyond your means. I make a lot more than you do and I don't have a car payment that high.

You seem to be attracted to cars that give the appearance that you have more money. First you owned a Mazda 626 (payed off) (should have kept it) and then you went looking for a Nissan Durango but were sold a Mercedes ML500 and then a Lexus GX470.

How about a brand new American made automobile that cost less than any of these used, and you don't have the issues that come with high milage?

Even if you don't like my suggestion there are cheaper cars that are brand new. You need to wake up. You did this to yourself. Next time you go car shopping, take someone along with common sense and does not give in to sales pressure. The car salesmen LOVE YOU.

To: annoymost, NY. Yes, because illiteracy annoys.
