Me and my husband went to look for a car for me. I have never bought a car before. I didn't have any credit so my husband had to co sign with me. We had a sales guy come up to us to help. We told him we were looking and also told him that we didn't want to spent over $10,000. We showed him an ad in the paper about the chev cars. It show a 2004 Chev. Cava. for $7,500.
Well we drove and hour to go check it out. And when we showed the sales guy he told us that they were out of them. Then I told him It just came out today. He then went to go talk to his manager. He then came back to show us that there is only one left. It was a standard and had a BIG scorpion on the hood. I told him that is not what is in the paper. I then told him never mind.
He then showed us a basic 2004 model. He asked if I wanted to drive it. I told him no. He said just drive it and then you can make up your mind. So me and my husband gave him our Drivers License. We took it on a test drive and everything was fine. We told him that we were not interested and he wouldn't give our license back. We were getting mad and he kept trying to cut a deal with us.
He then called his manager and he was telling us he is giving us a good deal and this is all he can do for us. He then took us to the loan officer (Theo). He was telling us the same thing. The manager was getting mad at my husband because he kept showing the ad to everyone. We then were there for 3 hours. WE just finally gave in because they would not give our license back. So we just signed the papers and left.
They called us back the next day and said that we need to come sign another buyers order. THe company that was going to finance us didn't want to. So When looking at the buyers order it showed that I was financing the car for almost $13,000. The car was only worth blue booked $9,000. I even put a few thousand down. But I still was financed for $13,000 through the bank. So were did my down payment go. If I was buying a car Stay away for Bill Heard in Surgarland...

Jim, I agree completely with your advice to Cassie. Although, I have the feeling like SOMEONE is completely magnifying their story. I have bought three cars from Bill Heard Chevrolet in Sugar Land and have NEVER had a bad experience. I wish that even a small part of Cassie's story seemed to be less than a fairy tale, then I wouldn't have used up my own time writing a response.

You Rewarded Evil...Same Old Story!

Cassie:
There is no "loan officer" at a car dealership. He's an F. and I. guy (finance and insurance) and his job is to load up the deal with all kinds of phoney baloney fees and charges.
So now Cassie, you're complaining about the deal. Cassie, who signed the papers? Cassie, who gave in and played doormat? Cassie, who should have walked out? Cassie, who should have called the police when they kept your property?
Am I being hard on you??? You bet! All of us can prevent being victums in cases of CRIMINAL FRAUD/DECEPTION at slime ball car dealerships. This DOES NOT mean all dealers are pond scum, because not all are. When you find a decent dealership which practices integrity, form a long lasting relationship with him. Such dealers are NOT going to lie to you in advance by telling you there's some kind of phoney-baloney dealer fee.
A dealer fee is simply a DECEPTION in advertising. They advertise the price of the car in large print but its NOT the real price! The real price is ALL the money that goes to the dealer in the above case its the car price PLUS the phoney-baloney dealer fee. They are lying to you by advertising a false price. YOU have the power to either not go to them or WALK OUT when the garbage starts. When the great William T. Heard The Third dealership kept your license you should have gone to the showroom floor or any place where potential customers can hear you and say loud enough..."I'm not playing your fraud and deception games. You either give me back my license NOW or I'll call the police!"
I hope you have learned something here..that is my purpose. None of us has to be a doormat and I can absolutely guarantee you that YOU are much too valuable of a person to be walked all over.
Good luck in your next experience!
