I have used Bitdefender anti-virus protection for two years. Recently, as they did before when it was time for me to renew my subscription, I began receiving constant emails from them "reminding" me to renew my subscription--and just today, I began to get pop-up ads on my desktop from them.

I quickly renewed my order (they were offering a great deal), and then checked my computer to find out the date that my current subscription would end so that I would know when to install the new program. Well, I learned that I have 6 months more of my Bitdefender subscription. Had I not checked (as I am sure was the hope of the company), I would have uninstalled my old version of Bitdefender and installed the new subscription, therefore GIVING the company 6 months of last year's payment.

I caught this problem within 15 minutes of placing my order and attempted to resolve it with Bitdefender via online chat. The rep could not explain to me why this happened--didn't even attempt to, which made me suspicious. S/he also told me in very vague terms that s/he would put in my request for a "refund." I said, no--cancel my order. S/he would not. This person DID tell me that the company had sent out 250 MILLION marketing emails that day (when your business is that big, why do you feel the need to do this with your customers--not that small businesses should cheat their customers, either?).

I then contacted Bitdefender by phone. When the woman finally found my order (she said it did not exist at first, although I gave her all of the information), she used words that made it sound like she COULD be saying that my order was cancelled, but when pressed hard, she admitted that she was not promising me anything.

After two hours dealing with this company, my order that was unscrupulously "marketed," was still not cancelled, nor would anyone commit to a "refund."
