Bragada Memory Foam Mattress Rip Off Alert!!!

After doing very diligent research over the internet and reading endless reviews from both Bragada's corporate web site and other independent reviews from eopinions.com, I decided that memory foam must be the mattress for my wife and I. After all, there were so many five star reviews of their products, how could we go wrong? Let me tell you, all these positive reviews must have been written by Bragada employees because after owning one, I couldn't possibly see how anyone could give them a favorable review let alone a "glowing" one.

My hope is that people who stumble on to my complaint here will think twice about doing business with Bragada! Those of us who have been ripped off should get together and form a class action law suit against Bragada.

Here's the story...

In December 2008, we purchased a $1800 Bragada Vienna King Sized Mattress and Foundation from Bragada Mattress. I was assured that notification of delivery would be made prior to the bed and associated parts arriving by truck. Not so fast! I show up home one fine afternoon only to find several large boxes and what looked like a rolled up carpet in front of my door. Good thing the weather was nice because it could have just as easily been snowing or raining that day thus ruining my new bed. This is Colorado in the winter! Okay, the delivery wasn't notified. Big deal. Stuff happens, right? I think no harm, no foul. Let's just get the bed inside and get it set up. In retrospect, maybe having the stuff ruined by the weather and covered by insurance would have been the best thing that could have happened? Read on...

The first thing I noticed is that this mattress is heavy! I mean really heavy like a hernia maker in waiting! My wife and I horsed this darn burrito thing down the hall, around the corner and into the master bedroom. Good thing we don't have stairs! The 6' long burrito wrapped in plastic is actually the mattress that has been compressed by a machine and wrapped in plastic at the factory for shipping. When you carefully cut off the plastic (so you don't cut the mattress), the bed explodes open like a pent up clock spring. Three other boxes contained the box spring sets (two for a king size) and a set of "free" foam pillows. Assembly took about an hour from setting up the frame until finished. Now for the rest of the story...

How did it sleep? Well, the first few nights, it was really nice. Very comfortable and I thought that I'd made a good decision. My wife was also very happy with it. However, after about 3-4 weeks, I noticed that I was starting to settle into a "rut". Other people complaining have described this as the feeling of being in a "hammock." Since I don't own a hammock I can't really say for sure but to me, there is a depression or a sag present where the foam has memorized my body shape. I knew this wasn't normal so I emailed Bragada and asked what I could do to firm up (fix) the bed (as I knew that I couldn't return it)? I was advised to purchase a non-memory foam topper to go over the mattress and that would take care of the problem. That was easy for them to say since my wallet was now empty and they have all my money!

Resolved that I'd been thoroughly screwed, I started doing more research on foam mattresses and found latex toppers at sleeplikeabear.com. Evelyn with that company contacted me by email initially and then by telephone and gave me the low down memory foam mattresses vs. latex foam mattresses. She explained that body heat and weight/mass make a big difference in whether or not you're going to be satisfied and comfortable on a memory foam mattress or not. The ILD of the Bragada mattress is a 14 (which is pretty much on the plush side). Memory foam mattresses can, depending on their quality and construction, retain the shape of the body's imprint for long periods of time if not forever! Evelyn suggested that I purchase two 2" latex foam toppers (one a 44 ILD and one a 36 ILD, very firm and firm respectively) to overlay the Bragada mattress to help isolate my body weight and warmth away from their memory foam. The hope was this would lessen the effects being experienced with sagging and rutting. This was not, incidentally without paying an additional $800 for the toppers! A very expensive (sort of) solution. Thanks Evelyn for trying to help me out of this mess!

After three weeks trying the toppers in different configurations, I can almost rest at night but I'm still having issues with body heat. When I go to bed, there's no problem at first but after a few hours, the body heat has caused the underlying Bragada memory foam to rut again. At least its not as noticeable as it was with only the bragada mattress. That's another thing. This mattress retains body heat like an oven. So, if you like to sleep cool, you'll need less covers and maybe even a ceiling fan for summer. Gee, I can hardly wait! Good thing Colorado summer nights are known for being chilly! The fact is that we should have bought a latex foam mattress instead of a memory foam. Two very different critters for sure! Hint! Hint!

I'm still not happy with this situation even though I've almost got a work-a-round figured out. The bottom line here is that Bragada mis-advertised their product! Made claims that aren't true! They don't offer a real warranty! They don't offer a trial use period! And their customer service sucks! If you're going to spend that much money, you should be able to demand satisfaction and I'm not getting it! I feel like I've been totally ripped off and I'd like to have our money back. I know that will never happen and that we're screwed! However, what I can do, in all good conscience, is make sure that the people who read this know what a terrible product and company that Bragada represents and warn you to avoid them like the plague!

NEVER buy anything worth this much money without actually physically being able to examine it with your own eyes and hands. Demand your right to return it if it isn't right! This probably means NOT purchasing your bedding over the internet. You need to go to a local store and look the people in the eye. It's harder for them to rip you off if they know you have their address! It's also much easier to sue them in small claims court if they're local instead of 3000 miles away in NY! So, buyer beware! You've been forewarned!

To Mr. Vincent Simmons, President of Bragada: If you have any integrity whatsoever, please arrange to have my mattress picked up and returned to your factory for a complete and total refund of the purchase price. I am totally and completely dissatisfied with my purchase! Har! That's a joke! Win pigs fly... right?!

Everyone else: Don't say you weren't warned in advance!

We bought a vacation home in the outback desert in AZ and ordered both a full size and a Queen Bragada Memory foam mattress bed having essentially the same experience as in the original report in setting them up adding that the frames are far too flimsy to hand the weight of the mattresses.  We had so enjoyed the memory foam toppers we had at our base home that we felt the full mattresses themselves would be wonderful.  WRONG!  I can only say that we wish we had explored other options for getting regular mattresses and then, if necessary, ordering toppers, but we didn't, so we can only encourage others to at least not make our mistake and order these TREMENDOUSLY HEAVY and BULKY mattress beds.  Not only had you better be in your prime to lift them in setting them up, but every time you have to change them.  Wish we had been so forewarned.  As we are senior citizens, we may be faced pretty soon with the necessity of finding someway to dispose of these and get some decent mattresses we can handle.  Our main home 15" Beautyrests with their 3" toppers are lightweights to handle compared to these gravity laden very hard to lift Brigada mattresses.  Sincerely, a very unhappy purchaser of this product.

Bragda Solution

AUTHOR: steve satow - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 10, 2011

I made a plywood frame that I have my kingsize memoryfoam matterss on. Its made of 2x4s  16in on center 5/8 plywood on top and 3/8 on bottom. Make it an 1 1/2 " under the size of the matteress u have so u have soft mattress overhang. I stapled on some inexpensive carpet from lowes to protect the matteress. It works great no sag and lots of storage. It serves two purposes king size storage undermeath. It firms up the mattress considerable. My wife is over 200 lbs and we have no problem with mattress memory retention on our Bragda. Its much nicer than the Temperpedic we had berfore.

Chain of Command

AUTHOR: Satisfy Me - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 01, 2010

To all persons who have perchused this mattress or any other product of any type of any company why are you talking to the CEO of the company????  There is a chain of command that is to be followed and if you have to call, e-mail, text, write or visit a CEO of a company you know you have just made a big BooBoo!! Contacting the owner of a company for a problem that needs to be resolved is like contacting Tom Cruze for his wierd acting in Vanilla Sky. Customer Service is first and if you have to by pass the chain of Command spend the money and drive your product back or call your credit card company and stop payment on these bastards. I feel like taking the action for all of you for this stupidity that companies give. If you see any comment on here that states a good feedback about a company then it has to be someone from the company trying to make there company look good ( why would you leave a positive feedback on a "Ripoff Report" other than to make ammends????). If you need futher reviews on any product "especially electronics" feel free to contact me areacodespres@yahoo.com & I will be happy to help you in any way possible!

My mattress is making me sick after 3 years

AUTHOR: Sonik - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 14, 2010

This my second Bragada Mattress. The first one left with my friend after using for a few months. I moved in to new state and again ordered the same mattress but the feeling is completely different. It has been 3 years using this mattress, the problem is it absorbers so much moisture and becomes so heavy and has been discolered really bad. I wash its cover very often but it has hole in it and not waterproof. When you sleep, breath and sweat on it, it all goes as food supply to the bacterias. If I sleep on this mattress, I get sick next day. If I sleep on the floor with another cheap mattress, I feel better. I have not contacted the company as it has been already 3 years but now I was trying to research on other good mattress as I need to buy one and found this. So just wanted to drop this lines here and see if other people are having the same issue.

Bragada Mattress Offer To Settle In Jeopardy Because of Ripoffreport

AUTHOR: Td in colorado - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 12, 2009

I have been working closely with Vincent Simmons, the president of Bragada to come to a mutually agreeable solution regarding our mattress. He has offered to refund our money less shipping costs which I believe to be a fair compromise. As part of the agreement, he understandably would like me to remove my negative feedback from the internet. Unfortunately the owner of this site will not allow posters to remove complaints once they have been placed here. This policy jeopardizes our ability to resolve this matter. As far as I'm concerned, since I am the author of complaint, I should be allowed to modify it, delete it or do whatever I deem acceptable. This is a basic copyright. It's too bad that a 3rd party is causing our negotiations to faulter into a stalemate because of this wrinkle. So, let me advise you to think very carefully before posting to this site because doing so might eventually cause you to not be able to resolve your complaint with another party due to this policy. Hard feelings often go one foot too far!

Mr. Simmons has expressed to me that his (Bragada's) #1 goal is customer satisfaction. I hope that Mr. Simmons can see his way to using the corporate advocacy program offered on this site to correct any misconceptions people may have about his company or his products. I hope we, likewise, can come to a mutually acceptable agreement that resolves our matter once and for all.

Finally, might I suggest that if you have comments or complaints you'd like to air, there are other sites such as complaints.com or eopinions.com where you can leave commentary on products and/or services where you have the complete control of authorship. If you decide to retract your comments at some future date, these sites allow you to do so without a judgment from the Supreme Court.

To ripoffreport, please do us all a favor and place your (disclaimer) policy regarding not being able to withdraw your complaint in BOLD TYPE on the first page of your website so that everyone understands the risk they are taking by posting here. It's not good enough to place it at the end of the submittal in fine print with a check box. Who the hell reads every stupid disclaimer that you see printed everywhere. I'd spend all my time reading the fine print. If I wanted to be a lawyer, I'd have gone to law school for my JD.

Need help

POSTED: Friday, March 06, 2009

Thank you ex employee for finally solidifying the truth about this company. I have had the same problem as many. My bed was good for a couple weeks, and has progressively been getting worse. I have a question for you. I did the 6 month no payment with Bragadas own credit. I have to pay it next month, but it makes me sick having to pay 1100 dollars for something I am going to throw away very soon. Not to mention the money I have to spend to buy a new mattress. Is there any way that you can think of that I could get out of paying this. Have you known of any customers who have somehow got out of it? Thanks

THE TRUTH ABOUT BRAGADA MATTRESSES!

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 27, 2009

Here is the truth about this company, I am an ex-employee and this company is a FRAUD!!!!!! The owner of this company has several personalities and he is not nice to his staff. They have a good old boys network and it consist of 4 people and anybody else is an outsider and they treat you like crappp! This company is very small and they have only one customer service rep and she is also a so-called manager. Her name is Patty and she is a very rude and disgusting person who lies to all customers and pretends that she is different people in the company. She does not know how to even spell correctly and she calls herself a manager.

Every person that has ever worked for this company has quit, they listen in on your phone calls when you talk to customers. When you leave for the day they go through your desk and go through all of your personal belongings and they check everywhere you have been on your computer. The owner has a spyware on the computer to check everywhere you have been on the computer.

Patty sits in her office and is VERY lazy and let you take ALL of the calls for the company and all you get is very angry customers, the company received so many threats from customers that I left because I was concerned for my safety. The company is a bait and switch company, the website is full of lies. You DO NOT get a lifetime warranty on your products! It is a LIMITED lifetime warranty meaning that if something is wrong with your bed it must have 1.75 indentations and if it doesn't you are screwed.

They send the majority of the beds compressed! which they do not tell the customer and in fact they have a pic of a regular size bed being delivered on the website to mislead people into thinking that all of them are delivered that way when they are not. Many of the items listed on the website are not the actual items that you will receive. The topper with the air holes on their website does not exist and yet they have a picture of it on the website.

Also the testimonials are a joke, the pic of the so-called doctor that endorsed his beds that pic is a paid actor it is not a pic of the actual doctor (if you dont' believe me just google a pic of the doctor). Also he claims that his beds has the Orthapedic Seal of Approval, I was told by Patty that the seal is only for one or two of the beds not ALL of them. Most of his beds were never tested. When they trick you into buying from them then they have your payment info on file that they keep in a filing cabinet that is never locked!

If you dispute your purchase in most cases because they have your credit card info the will re-charge your credit card! There are so many typos on his website and I told him about it and he did not even care. When customers call about the beds not being what they should you are instructed to lie to the customers and advise them (after they have received their order) that they do not have a free trial period.

When you file a complaint and ask for the presidents email address it is actually an email that will go to patty herself and she pretends to be the president. Most of the pics of so-called satisfied customers are paid actors they are not actual recipients of his products. The employees do not dress professional some wear short pants to work. And dont even get me started with the so-called warehouse in Indiana that is a joke and they screw up customers orders all the time and dont even care. At lot of the times they will put the wrong label on the beds and they will send customers things that they did not order if they are out of stock of the actual order. The is no satifaction guaranteed! and most of their beds are not comparison to Temperpedic which they claim. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM this company if you do then you deserve everything that will happen to you because you have been warned.
