My elderly mother called me a few months ago to say that she had won a free 2 night cruise to the Bahamas for 2 and wanted to know if I would join her next year (2010). She lives in Georgia and was down in Florida for a visit this past week so brought the cruise info with her. When I saw the paperwork and discovered that she had already prepaid $898 via her credit card (apparently she gave the sales person the info over the phone) I was pretty dismayed. My mom is 75 and still has to work full time to make ends meet. She has always dreamed of taking a cruise and she just couldn't resist the chance at a "dream vacation".
I am convinced that she was the victim of very deceptive sales tactics - hopefully we will be able to get her money back either from Caribbean Cruise Line or the credit card company. Will update in a few weeks.

Please call these scammers on behalf of your mother, you should tell them you are your mother actually so that they will talk to you and demand a cancellation and full refund! Do not take no for an answer and make sure to escalate the situation to a supervisor, I got a full refund and cancellation by doing this. Don't give up, they will give you your money back. Make sure if they agree to the refund you get a confirmation number. Also, when they give you a hard time, and they will, cite the Florida Sales Act and threaten them with the BBB and legal action. Also call the credit card company and dispute the charge if the scammers refuse to give you a refund. I also recommend getting a new number for that card because I have read horror stories of additional charges popping up from these people at later dates. Good luck!
