My husband received a "free cruise" from Carribean Cruise line in the mail. Calling the number, this free cruise {buy one get one free} would cost us about 900 dollars.
He said we didn't have the money, and the man was able to coerce him into giving him the number, explaining they could do it in 100 dollar increments, starting in a month, when we could do it.
The next day, I discovered our account was very in the black. I called these people, and they said my husband had agreed to the charge. They wouldn't speak to me, because he was the one they had worked with.
My husband insisted he didn't, and called them back. The same manipulators were able to convince him they couldn't refund all of it, but only 500 dollars, because the rest had already been applied to the cruise. They would refund it within a 3-5 business days.
10 business days later, I made him call again, and this time they said it was 7-10 business days, and would be done soon.
At this point, I am extremely upset. They literally took food out of my childrns mouths. My husband had been out of work all summer, and I had started working, two weeks before. That money they took was my entire two weeks of hard work.
So four weeks later, nothing, and I don't have enough in the bank to buy diapers for the kids, let alone milk or necessities like that.
They continue to refuse to speak with me, only him, and assure him they will refund it. I firmly do not believe they cannot refund all of it, and I know they can do it instantly.
So now they have to deal with me, and I'll do what it takes, but they are not woring with me, and refuse to even give any of this money back.
They are manipulative, and if one spouse seems more forceful and stubborn than the other, or a lot less naive, they'll take the easier one and all they will say to the other, "we're sorry, we talked to your spouse, we can't talk to you."
Yes, I am upset, and I have read several similar reports, now mine is added to it. Hopefully, someday, somebody will start a class action lawsuit against them, exposing them for the scam they are.

Lets see -You recieved the "free" cruise solicitation in the mail. You barely started a job; your husband is out of work; you live in Idaho -a long expensive way from Florida etc etc and you actually called these people. When you discovered that two tickets cost $900 -a ridiculous sum by the way for a round trip to Nassau since 7 day cruises cost less than that - you stayed on the line and obviously gave them your credit card number. Why didn't you hang up? Next time read ROR. You are dealing with a bunch of telemarketers and if you give them a credit card they will immediately charge it regardless of what they say.
The only way to get your money back is to start writing formal letters to them requesting a refund with copies to the Florida Attorney General and others. Read ROR under "Ramada Plaza Resorts". A number of people got refunds and their letters and "copies to" are published. You WILL get a refund. These people won't argue with state governments and people who obviously know what they are doing but pleading, begging, and calling "supervisors" will get you absolutely nowhere. Calm down and write a formal, certified mail (return receipt) letter to the President of the line. Research ROR before you do. As I recall, all the addresses are there. You aren't the first sucker taken.
