We started to voice our concerns, and asked, "what if we don't like the products?" He kept saying that their products were better than what you buy in the grocery stores, and that he eats them himself. We continued to voice our reluctance, and he said that if you really aren't satisfied with the products once you've tried them, then you can get your money back. Based solely on that promise, we ended up signing the papers. But he assured us that a refund wouldn't be necessary, as the food was very high quality.
We got the freezer and the food a couple of weeks later. Even though we are in California, which allows a 3 day cancellation on all major contracts, we wouldn't have known to cancel that quickly, because they didn't even bring the food until about 1 weeks after we signed.
I must say that the beef was awful. The rep claimed that it is dry aged beef, but the meat was very bloody, as if the animals haven't even been bled properly after slaughter. My uncle was a cattle buyer for Iowa Beef, so I know what good quality beef is. I have never gotten a piece of meat from the Vons that was anywhere near as low quality as what we purchased from Celebrity Foods.
We immediately contacted their customer service department and let the rep, "Marco", know that we were not at all happy with the product. After much discussion, he convinced us that it must have been that particular steak that we tried, and that we should try some of the other products. He was sure that we would be pleased with the other items, and that we could "replace the items" that we didn't like, with items that we did.
We agreed to give it another chance, try more of the meat and let him know what we wanted to swap out. We honestly haven't liked any of the products that we've tried. We have contacted Marco again to let him know that we still want out of our contract. When we spoke with Marco a week ago, he told us that he would have his supervisor contact us. So far, no contact. We tried calling Marco again today, but were told he was on another line with a customer. Joel said he would leave him a note to call us back.
I would not recommend that anyone purchase this food or do business with Celebrity Foods. The quality is sub-standard, and the Company doesn't appear to want to honor the promise made to us by it's sales representative. Even at Safeway/Vons, if I ever get a product that is less than acceptable, they happily refund my money. They know that's the way to keep your customers, and to keep your customers happy. I want out of this contract, and I'm going back to shopping at Vons.
