Cellforcash.com advertises that they will pay for your old cellphones. Company even has a Today show article referenced on their site that leads you to believe they are reputable.

I sent my sony ericsson p900 phone to the company for an agreed upon amount of $29. They record that my cellphone was received and checked over, but they have never sent me a check.

They have ignored my communications via their website mail. I also went through BBB and they did not receive a response to their communication either.

Whatever you do, don't send your phone to these scam artists. I still can't believe that the Today Show references this company as being reputable.

Mr Arizona's report is innacurate

AUTHOR: mhmosieur@yahoo.com - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 24, 2009

I am the President of RMS Communications Group, Inc, who owns Cell for Cash.

Mr. Arizona neglects to mention that he put the wrong address on the label when he sent his phone in. My staff informed of that this morning.

Allow me to apologize to the legitimate customer, where CFC has made a legitimate error. We want to retain all our customers and we are not perfect. We are not scamming anyone. People are quick to point out that we "scammed them", were a fraud, etc." Most fail to include the fact that their transaction was a discrepancy, i.e., they send the wrong phone, the phone was not working, wrong address, etc.

I personally, am not running or hiding from any scrutiny.

We have run this site for approx. 5 years and have received several hundred thousand phones, with comparatively small amount of complaints. I do apologize for things that fall through the cracks. That's going to happen, with the volumes we deal with. We have assigned two people to monitor and handle complaints. We respond as best we can.

We, the Company,  do not have a forum to complain about specific consumers who scam us. For example, we have had numerous incidents where people have duplicated our checks and either cashed the or recently sent them to CFC customers. This matter is in the hands of the Postal Inspector.

However, you the consumer can basically post whatever you want, true, false or embellished.

I have two bits of advice.

1- Yes we did get a visit from the Sheriff's Deputy. We did issue a check, as it was an oversight. WE WILL NOT DO THIS AGAIN, even if the complaint is legit. This is a civil matter. I have spoken with the Sheriff's Dept. on several occasions and explained the situation.  I think inundating the Sheriffs Dept with $29 complaints, in an attempt to punish CFC would be pointless, but if you want to cry theft to a law enforcement agency, knock yourself out.  I took the liberty of informing the Sheriff's Dept about Mr. Arizona's failure to mention that little address detail.

2- Printing mailing labels from the USPS for frivolious reasons will get you a visit from the Postal Inspector. As far as anyone suggesting that you print a lot of false labels, that person would find themselves in a most unpleasant legal situation. I have the envelope of batteries sitting on my desk.

In short, we provide a service that performs as advertised 99% of the time. I am sorry if we are not perfect.  Every Agency, TV Station etc. mentioned on this forum has been contacted and has been assured that no we dont scam and we are open to legitimate questions from anyone at anytime. I will speak to any legitimate representative at anytime about the activities of Cell for Cash.

In closing, again I do apologize to the legitimate customers who have indeed been over looked. As a means of consolation, we will give anyone who has had a legitimate problem with CFC a free battery for the cell phone you are presently using, subject to availability. These are reconditioned batteries. Simply mention this post and my name,  the type of cell phone you have and we will send you a free battery.

cellforcash scam

Here is some other stuff that might help you guys... of course the police report seems to be the best move:

I have sent an email to the local television station for Ocala, Florida. Their website is http://station.wcjb.com/content/4002/Contact/. Maybe if you do the same, they will investigate for us.

The next thing I am doing is looking into filing a police report with the local PD. The jusidiction is actually at the county level and the Marion County Sheriff's telephone number is 352-732-9111 . I would suggest you file a report as well or at a minimum lodge a complaint.

The US Attorney's office contact information for Ocala, FL is at the following link http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/flm/admin.html and they prefer a letter or phone call. Unfortunately, no email. As this is crossing state lines, I think it probably is at federal level.

Cellforcash.com RMS Communications Rip-off

AUTHOR: Indy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 14, 2009

UPDATE: Sheriff's from the Marion County office went to the company's address to advise that a police report had been filed against them. The company claims an "oversight" was made... haha. They told them the check would be issued immediately... again haha. I just received an email from cellforcash.com saying that they have issued the check and it will be mailed to me. Hey guys... all it took was having the police visit their office. SO, NOW YOU ALL KNOW WHAT TO DO. FILE A POLICE REPORT. I will update again, when the check shows up... or if it doesn't within 7-10 business days.
