I fired Charter after losing internet service for over a week after a storm, May 2006. Charter failed to show up for THREE scheduled appointments to repair.

Officially fired Charter 06/09/2006. I turned over Modem/Equipment which they acknowledge receiving - I have a receipt. Charter confirmed I am due a refund of $90.28 on 06/09/2006 at 1:20 p.m. which "will take 4-6 weeks" for me to receive.

I have since made several dozen phone calls to find out where my refund is. On each occasion it is acknowledged I am due a refund of $90.28. No one in "billing" knows why a refund check has not been issued. On 08/23/2006 I made at least seven phone calls (took two hours) to try to get a resolution. Same story, except THIS time, I was told by "Elizabeth" at it would be "another 6-8 weeks" from 08/23/2006 before I receive my refund check and I should "check back" if I have not received one by then. Naturally.

Many messages left for supervisors to return my call - never received any. Supervisor was supposed to call yesterday evening - again, no return call. (I don't have the space to list all the times I was placed on hold for 20 minutes at a time, or was "disconnected" when being transferred to a supervisor -I have been to Mexico City and all over the Eastern U.S. trying to speak to someone who actually knows something!)

No one is accountable at Charter, and they make SURE it is next to impossible to get through to a human who can assist you. Are you reading this Charter? I have the date and time and alleged first name of each and every person who failed to answer my question or disconnected me since May 2006.

Wow. Now there's a track record to be proud of. Judging from all the complaints against Charter, this is simply a way to do business - ignore the customer, make sure no one is accountable, and that it is next to impossible to penetrate the Fortress of Accountability.

I am now going to call the Clark Howard Show (consumer talk show in Atlanta Georgia) to get assistance.
NEEDLESS to say, I have a new internet provider and they have been great - recommended by several neighbors who also fired Charter Communications this past year.
