Chevy Chase Bank has consistently ripped me off as a customer and I'm finally changing banks.  There are so many incidents but I'll list two particularly outrageous ones.  First, I found fraudulent charges on my account and Chevy Chase barely investigated and did nothing to help me.  I finally closed my original bank account and started a new one with Chevy Chase.  I asked that the original account be closed and was told by a customer service rep that it would be done so.  Meanwhile, they did not close the original account, allowed all of the fraudulent charges to go through on the old account despite my complaint that they had on file, and charged me $35 dollars for each overdraft charge which totaled around $1000.  Finally, they took the $1000 from my new account without notifying me and pretty much wiped out my severance payment from the company that had just laid me off.  I was struggling to get by until I found a new job and I was devastated to find they had done this.  Any complaint I've made is ignored and the branch managers are rude to the customers.

Another incident was when I set up automatic bill payment with them.  I asked that they send out my rent check each month to my landlord's bank account but no one told me that they literally send out a paper check to my landlord's.  They send it to the bank but her bank was not receiving it properly for some reason so I cancelled the bill payment service and asked them to put a stop payment on the checks that had been sent out.  Then one morning I opened my on-line banking to discover that my landlord's bank had finally received some of the checks and cashed them at the same time and Chevy Chase allowed these checks to go through, regardless of the stop payment.  I had to spend hours on the phone fighting with them until a manager finally reversed the charges and reimbursed me for the overdraft fees.  Two weeks later, same thing happened!  They let more of the checks go through and had apparently not stopped sending them out.  To add insult to injury, again their customer service reps were rude to me.

This bank is a horrible, horrible institution and they do not value you as a customer.  I would tell anyone to NEVER use Chevy Chase Bank.
