Chevy Chase Bank ripoff the business that doesnt give a dam dirty SOB's dishonest ripoffs Warrenton Virginia

On Nov 5, 2002 I was at the mall shopping and my purse was stolen. I pickup up my cell phone to notify my bank (Chevy Chase Bank) immediately. The had advised me to put a stop payment on the check numbers that were taken with my purse. There was checks missing rannging from 2030-2040. The bank had advised me that there would be a 32.00 stop payment fee for every check I put a stop payment on for a total of 320.00. Ok this is a big chunk of change for something beyond my control but I said ok, I'll pay the 320.00 rather then have someone write hundreds of dollars worth of checks and take every penny I had in my acct.

On Dec 3 I called the automated system at Chevy Chase Bank to find my balance 1632.14 lesser then it should have been. I then went into the nearest branch to find out why and here's what I was told. Well Mrs.--- there was some checks that came in on your acct which were check numbers, 2030,2031,2032and 2034 that were paid. Well, needless to say I said NO there was a stop payment on those range of checks and the lady stated to me, Well that stop payment is no longer on the acct. I asked why not, and she said well somehow it had fallen of the system but I can put another stop payment on all that range of checks at a cost of 32.00 each for you , if you'd like. I said NO WAY will I pay twice for YOUR bank error. I said about the checks that had been paid and she told me I would not be compensated. The checks were paid and there was nothing that I would be able to do at that point.

Needless to say I closed my acct. I think Chevy Chase Bank is a RIP-off and will do anything they can do to take customers money. If Chevy Chase was giving money away, I wouldnt bank with these low-life scum bag money hungry scam artist.
