We filed and were discharged of Bankruptcy in January of 2006. We were originally going to do 722 redemption on our 2005 Dodge Stratus. Due to a job change we were unsucessful in the redemption and Chrysler would not reaffirm with us, they gave us approximately one week to come up with our late payments of $3,009.27 which would have been due on the 24th of May 2006.

On the evening of the 27th our 4 year old son just so happened to be watching out the window at about 10:00pm and says Mommy, daddy there is a big truck going down the road that hauls cars and it looks like our car is on the back.

My wife and I kind of snickered at each other and thought nothing of it, after a few minutes my wife said to me maybe you should go check to see if our car was still outside. Much to our surprise it was gone.

The Police station was able to provide us with a number that we could reach the repo company, which is Dalworth Adjusters. It being a Saturday evening there was no answer except for a machine, we still have not heard back from them. All of our personal belongings are still in the vehicle including: Two childrens car seats, a satalite radio, my bank debit card, baby stroller, about $100 dollars worth of music cds, and a few misc. items.

We were home at the time and no contact was ever made with us. We assumed that chrylser would eventually come get the car since our attempts of 722 failed, but we thought that they would give us some sort of warning before they took the car without giving us our belongings.

We definitely would like to advise againist using Chrysler Financial to obtain your next vehicle loan. The Rip-Off reports speak for themselves this is number 66 in the long list of reports against them.

Please feel free to contact me if you have had a similar encounter.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Ummm...

AUTHOR: Chip - (U.S.A.)

Maybe instead os snickering with your wife (snickering because you knew you were going to lose the car eventually...by your own admission), perhaps you should have cleaned your car out. After the 24th came and left, you should have cleaned it out. Period. You actually had three days to do so before it was repoed.

So, I ask...How are THEY ripping YOU off? If the repo was illegal, that's one matter. But you knew you were going to lose the car -- you say that in your report. Why didn't you remove your items after you learned Chrysler wouldn't reaffirm? And, so long as we're on the subject...you didn't fulfill the terms of your contract with them. How is that a ripoff?

Tell them you would like to retrieve some important personal items from the vehicle and they will more than likely let you, under their eyes, as long as you're civil about it. Be sure that ONLY the registered owner goes in, and have ID ready. If you go there with an attitude, they will lock you out of the yard. I don't understand why you say you've been ripped off, Chrysler seems to be the ones that were ripped off. If anything, you could have done a turn-in repo as soon as you knew you were going under and saved the expense of them having to come steal their car back.
