Charged $79.95 for something I didn't ask for! .....

I contacted CIC Credit Monitor Service about being charged $79.95 for a "free credit report". Turns out the free report was just for the first 30 days, and from then on a fee of $79.95 would be charged for their service. Sorry, but I don't recall agreeing to that!! Watch out!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

resolve this through the credit service

AUTHOR: Janay - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 11, 2004

I had the very same thing happen to me. I tried to get a report and a month later I see an unathorized charge of $79.95 on my credit card. There was an 800 number posted next the fee. I called my credit card company and they suggested I try to resolve this through the credit service first. I called 800-220-2626. I was not on hold for very long. I spoke to a respresentative, and explained I had no intention of signing on for the fees incurred. With no qualms, they agreed to reverse the charges. I received an email confirmation number of this within 48 hours, obtained the reps name & ID number and then the charges were reversed within 7 to 10 days. Try calling this number if you have a problem. Mine was solved very easily.
