Consumerinfo.com CIC CREDIT MONITOR SVC charged $79.95 for credit report monitor for report never requested CA Internet

I found a charge on my credit card for $79.95 from a company I was not familiar with and I had no record of such a charge in my personal records. I searched the company name on the internet and was led here to ripoffreport.com by a report from someone else.

Finding their story similar to mine I called the number provided and talked with a representative from the company. I was told that I had signed up for the credit report and monitoring service and that was what the fee was for.

The only problem with this story is that the time I supposedly signed up for this service, I was living in military barracks and my internet access was limited to what I had at work linking me to military sites only thus making it impossible for me to have visited this site and requested anything.

I asked for the charge to be refunded since it was obviously incorrect and was told that my account (which I never opened) would be closed and my money would be refunded in 7-10 working days.

We'll see.
