CIC CREDIT MONITOR SVC ripoff Laguna California

A charge for 79.95 by CIC Credit Monitor Svc made to my credit card on 1/3/04. I do not know who this company is; I am not a member of any credit monitoring comapny; nor did I order a credit report from them, or anything else.

I called, and they said they would reverse it if I supplied them with certain info. I willingly gave them my name and address. I balked at giving them my credit card number, but I did as they had already charged it. And finally out of desperation I gave them my last 4 of SS#. Each time she would say she needed this info to allow her to reverse the charges. I ended the conversation when she asked for my mother's maiden name, but only after demanding she put the reversal through, and she would not.

I sure would like to know how they got my CC# in the first place. The only non-local item on that same CC statement occurred the week before this happened was a computer order from DELL. Just out of curiosity I wonder if that follows any body elses pattern.

I'll keep watch on this string.
