About 2 weeks ago I responded to an email offer for a free credit report which would be sent to me. I never received the report.

Today I went online to see my bank's statement of my checking account and discovered this entry:
"10/17/2003,
Transaction Descrp.:CIC Credit Monitor Svc 877-513-41, -$79.95"

I was shocked at this deduction from my account but could not phone CIC since they did not give their full phone number. So I went to Google and found out that it was a common ripoff which has happened to many people.

I will call the bank to see what can be done. And follow the rest of your advice.
