The following is a note I am trying to send to the president of Cingular. I saw a little hope from some of the other victims of Cingular. As of tonight, their e-mail is not working. I hope it is only for weekend maintenance and it is not shut down.
I kept the note brief but it is incredible the amount of time my wife spent on this issue and have gotten nowhere. She was not working at the time. I do not know how people can spend the time talking to these people.
One of the worst things about it is that she would have to go through the whole story every time we talked to them.
And then for them to have the gall and lead her to believe that I or our daughter had secret accounts that were causing strange billings we were receiving.
"We opened a four-line account with SunCom in 2001 and were very pleased with the account. When AT&T took over the account, we continued to receive good service.
My wife signed with Bell South to combine our landline and cellular payments through the wireless combined billing service around Nov. 2004. At about the same time, Cingular bought AT&T.
We ended up receiving phone bills from AT&T, Cingular, and Bell South. We were also assigned phone accounts we never asked for. At one time, we have 7 phone accounts with different numbers assigned to us.
My wife spent countless hours on the phone with Cingular and Bell South trying to get it straight. Between Jan. and April 2005, she conservatively spent over 40 hours on the phone with Customer Service reps. We eventually got some of the accounts closed but never got the billings settled.
The CSR's even had my wife go on a wild goose chase by suggesting someone had our old cellular phones activated and were being used covertly! They even had her checking on the various SIM cards in the old phones.
Every time we thought we would get this messed settled, Cingular would call back either saying we owed more money or our accounts were not correct. Most of the reps would not even read the past history of the account before calling and most did not care after they read it.
Long story short, we finally cancelled all accounts with Cingular except for the one account that was not messed up.
We are now faced with early termination costs and who knows what else that has run up an enormous bill that we do not owe. We have a collection agency after us and I keep telling them we do not owe anything although my wife was duped by them the other day to give them some money.
Could you please have someone review our account history and see if there is anything that can be done to correct this? We would be glad to discuss with anyone about this issue.
Sincerely,
Gary
