I bought a Garmin GPS 340C from Circuit City and a day after I realize that this item is actually discountined by Garmin. Then I have called the Circuit City Customer Service Agent, they told me that I can get an upgraded one from any Circuit City without giving a restocking fee. But in the evening I went to the store in Laurel, MD they were very rude and credited 85% of the purcahse price without telling me. Then I told them if there is any restocking fee, I don't want to return the item.

Then the manager bring another new (unopened) Garmin 340C and cut the cover and give to us back. Is that a good customer service?. He was very rude in his talk. Istead of doing this drama, why don't they give me the full refund or the new upgraded one. Also Manager told me that they know they are selling the discountined item, but we choose to buy the item from circuit city.

Is there anyway we can legally complaint aganist them because they sold a discountined item?

Selling discontinued items...?

AUTHOR: Crjenkins13 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 02, 2007

Why in the world would there be a law stating a company can't sell "discontinued" items? That makes no sense what-so-ever. Every store sells discontinued items. It's called clearance.

Your unit is fine, just because it's discontinued doesn't mean anything. The Garmin NUVI 260 is the direct replacement for the SPC340, however it's going to have the exact same software and maps.

Just because it's discontinued

doesn't mean it is a POS. In fact, there is nothing wrong with it other than the fact that the manufacturer stopped making this model more likely for a new, more updated model. If you wanted the "newest and the best" you should have done your research as the previous poster mentioned and next time try not to buy something because it was cheaper. Maybe if you only buy the most expensive item you're looking for you'll feel better about yourself.
