I was in a Naples, Florida Circuit City store earlier this afternoon (05/10/08) and what a poor experience I had when attempting to purchase a television, uncovering a scam I never knew about, but from what I understand has been ongoing for a while at Circuit City.

I researched a Magnavox 32 inch LCD TV on the Circuit City website , Model# 32MF337B, UPC# 609585126893 which was 599.99 on their website. BUT when I went to the store the same identical TV Model# 32MF337B, UPC# 609585126893 was $799.99 on their store shelf! I attempted to get them to price match a current price receipt I had from Wal Mart for the same TV for $ 399.00 minus the 10% they advertise with their BS "unbeatable price guarantee".

Shaun in the TV/Electronics department spoke to his direct manager and then stated " No , we cannot sell the TV for that price because we paid more then that for it." What a scam Circuit City has ongoing. 200 buck difference from website to shelf and they won't even honor their own "unbeatable price guarantee" program .

#2 UPDATE Employee

Website not a scam.

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

I am an employee with Circuit City's Web Sales Team.

The website CAN and often DOES have cheaper prices than the store. Many people are shopping online nowadays, so the web team has deals the store does not.

NOW, if you go to the store, the store CAN AND SHOULD match the web price. They also should have matched Wal-Mart's price (as long as Wal-Mart had it in stock, etc.)

One thing for you to know; Purchasing on the web or over the phone for in store pick up will ALWAYS give you the web price.

I am sorry for your troubles and hope you give us another chance!

All the terms of the Circuit City Unbeatable Price Guarantee are explained in full on the website, at http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/lookLearn.do?cat=-13318&edOid=105471. I work with Circuit City - if your price match meets the requirements and you still have problems, e-mail Circuit City at consumer_affairs [at] circuitcity.com. They should be able to help you out.
