I purchased a credit card machine on a lease agreement from the Lease Finance Group a division of CIT. The lease is for 4 years and I am 2 years into the lease and I still owe $1829.90.

That is one expense credit card machine. They told me I would still have to pay the lease off even if I returned the equipment.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

File your Report with FTC

AUTHOR: Gloria - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 29, 2004

Hi,
You may want to sent a complaint to FTC (Federal Trade Commission) . I did and received a response saying they don't do individual cases. However, if they log enough complaints, they will start an investigation and possibly legal action. So here is the link: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 to the FTC complaint form. I've told many people about it, so you may want to do the same. Make sure you give specific examples or even let them know you have documentation of deceptive or misleading information. Also, if possible, please scan & send copies of these documents to me at [DELETED]. I haven't given up, but it does take a while for the squeaky wheel to be heard.

As far as CIT, here is their main site: http://www.cit.com/main/default.htm . Also, within this site, I found e-mails and have sent copies of my rip-off report, including a copy of all the complaints listed under Lease Finance Group in the Rip-Off site. Here are some e-mail addresses, you may want to send your concerns to: investor.relations@cit.com, corpcomm@cit.com, directors@cit.com,

I did get the Rip-Off Report Do-It-Yourself Guide and it did have some good steps to follow. However, it was a little lacking in the cyberspace rip-offs. I've been paralleling the thoughts or ideas in this Guide to try to apply them to the internet. For example, instead of sending faxes, send e-mails. So every web site I am interested in, I look for e-mails and make up a group listing & start bombarding them with e-mails and include my rip-off report, plus any other rip-off concerns.

I hope this helps. Thanks, G for California

TO CORY - THAT IS A BUNCH OF... you are just as much of a thief as they are.

You are correct about reading the contract. But that is all you are correct about. Have you ever leased a car and sat there and read all the fine print or send it to your lawyer to review? Would you go to a car dealer, to buy a 1990 Ford Escort, have the salesman tell you that the car cost $18,000, but you can lease it for only $600 a month over 60 months. Then after that 60 months, the dealership does not contact you about returning the car, but continue to charge you "RENT" at the same $600 each month after the lease expires. So 6 months later, you say ok - how much is it to buy the car? They tell you $18,000. Now do the math. I just spent $39,600 for this car and now if I want to buy it, it will cost me another $18,000.

Well Cory this is exactly how CIT works, now if you do think this is not a scam, than you are just as much of a thief as they are.

company that sold/leased you the CC machine has some blame to share

Did you read the lease agreement before you signed it? Most of these leases are for 48 months, at $48 or $52 or even $56 per month which can come out to $2688. For a credit card machine you can purchase for for $750 to $900. Look in the classified ads under business equipment, sometimes you can buy used for $250 to $500 depending on how new or used it is. Should have read the contract. Some ripoff co got my wife's niece and nephew to lease 2 seperate CC machines for their home based business out of one house. Talk about a skam. If I understand your post you are paying $76 per month and will have paid $3658 by the end of the lease. I think the company that sold/leased you the CC machine has some blame to share also. Good luck.
